Poor communication yields poor results. The inverse is often true as well…Poor results can be the result of poor communication. Leaders with vision and drive sometimes struggle with knowing how to communicate the vision in their heads to their teams.

Choosing not to establish trust with team members is an excellent way to jeopardize your efforts, guaranteeing future difficulties...A title does not make someone a leader. One becomes a leader when they take the time to earn their team's trust. #LeadershipDevelopment#leaders
Anyone can criticize…But it takes a good leader to deliver valuable, positive feedback. I don’t mean the occasional “You’re doing great.” or “Well done!” It is nice to receive, but it won’t “stick.”
👏 I have learned that delivering feedback descriptively is far more potent.
Making good decisions is part of developing as a leader. There really is no substitute for experience. In the absence of experience, seek the counsel of others. #LeadershipDevelopment#leaders#leadership
Being new to leadership can be nerve-wracking. The truth is, being a leader is both simpler than we make it and harder than we think.
You are leading everywhere, with every action you take, regardless of whether you are on or off the clock.

There is preparation that goes into becoming a good leader.
It takes the ability to reflect on the past and work hard for the future, making the hard decisions everyday and putting in sweat equity.

Asking a team to “do as I say but not as I do” is a breach of integrity. If someone acts without integrity, no matter how high they climb in an organization, they won't be viewed as a leader.
In contrast, people will naturally be drawn to support leaders that display integrity.
Can you believe that nonprofits sacrifice 18 billion dollars a year in fees associated with processing donations? By providing NetGiver to their membership, #CreditUnions are supporting all of their members' financial decisions. Every member counts. Every donor counts.
🎯 Having a target to aim at is essential for continued success. Your team probably knows what bad looks like, but do they know explicitly what good looks like?
Positive feedback reinforces behavior.

GAC will soon be here and I am elated to debut this new podcast that, I believe, is timely and relevant for credit union nation. #creditunions
This is only the beginning of #SeeYouLead. I hope to talk to many more of you as guests on my podcast, where you can share insights.
To lead well you need the respect of your team. In my opinion, respect is earned regardless of title. When I have seen others #lead by example and allow others to see them take accountability for their actions, it has fostered tremendous #respect.
#leadership#LeadershipMatters
CU's practice the principles they preach. My favorite #CreditUnion principles:
💡Democratic member control, which fosters equality.
CU leaders make their decisions with members in mind.
💡 Concern for community, which builds prosperity.
When communities thrive, we all thrive.
Will it matter in five minutes?
Will it matter in five hours?
Will it matter in five days?
Will it matter in five months?
Will it matter in five years?
Asking questions will help guide #prioritization.
Here are attributes I believe are consistent of servant #leaders:
❇️ Honesty: You are still learning as a human, and professional. Expecting perfection is a recipe for failure.
❇️ Humility: Being truthful about strengths and weaknesses gains the respect of many.
I am excited to officially debut my new podcast on #CreditUnion leadership at GAC this year. I will be interviewing some incredible leaders. This is just the beginning...stay tuned for more.

I hope to never stop learning as a #leader. Even in a #leadership position, one should acknowledge that they are still evolving as a person and a professional. Expecting perfection from oneself is a surefire way to fail.
