@GMAlexColovic Play the Schliemann Lopez instead with 3... f5, its very hard to play a boring Schliemann. 4. d3 is safer, otherwise e4 e5 Nf3 Nc6 Bb5 f5 Nc3?! Nd4! (instead of fxe) leads to some really wild postions in just four moves. Used to play this line vs a friend back in the day.
@SalvadorDafti The 'new wave' era of the late 70's was a great period with so many awesome records being released. It continued a bit into the early 80's, but at some point it fizzled out. Music since then has not surpassed it, despite all the conveniences of digital recording vs analog.
@justmovechess I think they both are just having a little fun. Thats ok, chess at their level can be stressful, so have a laugh. I imagine Levy knows his rating will never reach theirs, but so what? His chess content is very informative and he deserves all the success he earns from it.
@SalvadorDafti ps: some other great records from '81: Joan Armatrading 'Walk Under Ladders', Elvis Costello 'Trust', Lindsey Buckingham 'Law & Order', and Hall & Oates 'Private Eyes'.
@SalvadorDafti I remember when T.Y. was new in '81 (age 17). My opinion then & now still the same- their last memorable album. After that, the three year tour cycle ended, and 'Undercover' and the rest of the albums were not really that interesting anymore.
@SamsaraSings He was 34 in 1976 and was at the peak of his popularity during that tour. There was no high-tech in those days, no fancy huge screens behind the stage. No cellphones to annoy others with taking pics/videos. Just real music, such as the horn section, not programmed samples.
@GMAlexColovic All I can think of is to check Ebay of European countries to see if can find a close match or the same. For smaller analysis board, I like the vintage 'French 3M' set, easily found on Ebay. For full size, I like my 1968 Drueke wood table with Cavalier pieces.
@dgriffinchess I remember buying that one a long time ago at a place called Coliseum Books in NY city- they had a good chess selection. In those days, no Amazon or any online sites existed to purchase books. Another good one is Profile of a Prodigy by Frank Brady.
@fins0905 I would just play the Schliemann right away with 3..f5 instead of a6. Whats to fear, 4. d3? Things can get very wild if 4. Nc3?! Nd4?! *(instead of 4..fxe).
@ginger_gm Instead of a Berlin lopez or a6, they should have played the Schliemann with 3..f5, a more intimidating move with exciting games that are seldom passive.
@SalvadorDafti At age 62, and knowing these albums since I was a kid, my opinion has not changed much. GHS & IORR are good albums that I listen to from time to time, but the glam rock vibe is not on the level of the '70-'72 hippie vibe that produced the great SF & Exile albums in comparison.
