Another #Jay Horwitz at #FDU tale. FDU played at Georgia Southern. Pre-game host asked: “Jay, what's the origin of the school name?” Jay joked: “You know the actress Angie Dickinson? Fairleigh Dickinson was her husband. The school is named for him.” FDU officials were not amused.
A #FDU story. In '78 FDU played at Kansas. Legendary #Mets PR guy Jay Horwitz, then at FDU, was pre-game guest. Host: “Jay, for all our Jayhawk fans, where is TEE-neck, New Jersey?” Jay: “It's east of Whippany & south of Ho-Ho-Kus. Hope that clears it up.” Dead silence followed.
Nearly 3 years since we lost our beloved Burly, we are so fortunate to rescue/adopt my newest best bud, an 83-pound, 10-month-old bundle of slobbering affection, Bentley. Spent his first 4 months riding in a Midwest semi, then 6 months in a Rhode Island apartment.
@KenDavidoff@nypostsports Congrats Ken on everything so far and best of luck in whatever comes next. Damn, I was gonna offer you this dialogue from what 70's movie: "I can't believe this trade. What do the Mets need another pitcher for? All they got is pitching?" (think Columbo)
Sad & awful news. Fred Cranwell, my mentor & friend for so long, died Sunday after fighting brain cancer. Just a truly good guy. A journalistic genius of legendary kindness, Fred helped so many: he gave me one of my first jobs at the Hudson Dispatch in Union City NJ. RIP Fred
@MikeVacc This is horrible news. Jay Greenberg was truly one of the nicest people I ever was privileged to meet in this business. His laugh always filled a press box. Condolences to his wife Mona and family. RIP Jay
@theobserver This is devastating and heart-breaking. Rick exemplified professionalism and personified friendship. A good, good guy who always made time for you. He will be deeply missed. RIP
Beyond his obvious talents and abilities, Sekou Smith was first and foremost a truly great guy, simply a nice man who had time and a smile for everybody. Condolences and prayers to his family.
It's so hard to get my head around the horribly unfair loss of NYPost photog Anthony Causi. A wonderfully nice guy who made being nice seem so easy. Deepest condolences to his family. https://t.co/6RDouTgDyF
@HowardBeck To quote Sam Amick...shit
Marty is a treasure, pure and simple. One classic line from him regarding the popcorn the Mavs used to put out in Reunion Arena: "Those Dallas writers are the popcorn-eatingest MFers ever." Say a prayer
@AschNBA@Mark_J_Boyle@gregkot@shawnsensiba My five (yeah I’m old)
1. Law and Order
2. Justified (Raylon Givens my favorite TV character even more than Lenny Brisco and...)
3. Columbo
4. 24
5. The Wire
I never really considered myself a writer, but I actually have a book coming out in May about my five decades with the @Mets. You can pre-order your copy now. https://t.co/v4znSTEhEf
27 years ago through the loss of Drazen Petrovic the #Nets community experienced the grief and pain so many feel from Kobe Bryant's tragic death. Some of those remember for @nypostsports
