@DeDolleDes Sadly the new owners didn’t last and Cafe Abseits has closed for good. In December Gerhard told me an Indian restaurant was taking over the location.
I just learned that long time friend, and former owner of Cafe Abseits in Bamberg, Gerhard Schoolman, has passed away. I hope you have good beer by your side, my friend...
@seatsixtyone Done a bunch over the years: Amsterdam-Berlin, Paris-Heidelberg, Munich-Amsterdam plus Amsterdam-Zürich (or v.v.) about 6 times on the old CityNightLine. Need to think about doing these again...
@BeerGuideLondon@phbrew@MusingAnorak I once managed to have an Oyster Stout at The Porterhouse in Covent Garden then the same evening in Temple Bar. It was fresher in Dublin, but both are great...
@silentdan Daniel, @BonsVoeux1 is the master of London: I don’t think he needs any pictures but if he does, he’ll let you know. He is stricter than I am, he only lists places he has actually been to, no “To Do List’ as I have. But updates are welcome & also places you find not in the Guide.
@Pivnifilosof The two times I was at the Nusle place I didn't really have a good time. The beer was great but the vibe wasn't. Music was kind of weird and played too loud. Had a much better time at Galerka up the street.
@RocketRay Rare to see 8-one-8 on tap (I am a “Founding Member”) but IIRC El Jefe is their wheat beer and not a fav. Hard to read some of the handles but F-W rarely disappoints.
@DJDavidTheWorm @Thirsty_Pilgrim And I can't tell you how many people told me they were "not big on smoked beers" but loved not only Bamberg, but *fresh* smoked beers. But less that 20% of the beers in the area are smoked (years ago I'd have said < 10% but there are more brewed these days)
