SANDF troops deployed under Operation PROSPER successfully intercepted a suspected stolen Toyota Hilux worth R636,600 and seized illicit cigarettes valued at R131,000 during separate border operations in Limpopo.

Suspects fled across the Limpopo River into Zimbabwe after allegedly opening fire on soldiers, who returned fire.

The recovered vehicle was guarded overnight before being handed over to SAPS, while the illicit cigarettes were abandoned by suspects who fled on foot.

The SANDF has commended the soldiers for their bravery and dedication in protecting South Africa’s borders.
