Actions speak louder than words. The cosmos responds not just to what you ask for, but to the tangible energy and work you put into manifesting those goals.
@ILuvBrownBoutte@BostonTBA Hopefully it won't happen, but if a losing streak comes he would just as quickly lose the crowd again.
That's how casuals roll ...
@triplef02@WFB3Sox@BiggestJohnStud Little guys have to be tough mentally and physically!
If they are not, they won't make it in MLB.
Remember, he led the league in HBP last year 😉
@FayIsNotGay@CaniacBombs If there's a site that filters both RHP/LHP and Road/Home I'd be curious to see how many RHP's he's faced on the road.
Last year overall his H/R splits were ridiculously similar: Home .808 OPS and Road .809 OPS - and 41 Total Bases for each, crazy.
@JonathanBaumst4 It's really quite similar to Giolito, he didn't earn any of his 2-year contract until the final 4 months.
I still say the stellar defense cuts at least a half run off the starting pitcher ERA's.
The Athletic labeled both of the big Sox trades as good, saying several of the Sox prospects traded were “over-hyped and over-ranked”.
I’ve never been a big prospect-follower so I have no strong opinion on Witherspoon or Eyanson etc, but I can certainly confirm Red Sox prospects are often massively hyped and prospect rankings are heavily flawed.
I’ve said this before, the O’s were already taking offers on Adley, Jackson and Colton who are (respectively):
Drafted #1 Overall, #1 Overall, #5 Overall
Prospect Ranking of #1 Overall, #1 Overall, #14 Overall
Age 28, Age 22, Age 26
That proves there’s no guarantees a highly drafted and highly ranked prospect will become a longtime MLB star.
Of course Sox fans don’t need to look at other teams to know that, we’ve seen what happened from guys like Moncada & Kopech & Trey Ball & Henry Owens & Casey Kelly & Lars Anderson to now Mayer & Campbell.
That is part of the reason why I’m fine with this deal. I’ve always favored proven MLB players over prospects, I never shed a tear for Moncada or Kopech when they were traded for Sale.
And oh yeah, let’s not forget how Downs/Wong/Verdugo turned out.
@JoeFromBoston I'm old school, let the kid get his feet wet in September and learn what being a major leaguer is all about. If he struggles it doesn't hurt the team because he's not replacing anyone on the roster.
