Is this the AI-driven job apocalypse I’ve been hearing so much about?
At some point the Doomers & their many followers will have to admit that productivity-enhancing innovation creates jobs & broad-based prosperity not the opposite - just like the loom, the engine, & the PC.
I challenge anyone to name a single item you purchase that a politician has ever made cheaper.
Remember this. A gallon of gas cost 57 cents in 1975. Today it is over $4. The gas did not change. The dollar did. The government printed so many of them that each one buys less. That is inflation. That is theft by printing press. And both parties held the press. Democrats printed trillions and named the bill that authorized it the "Inflation Reduction Act." And yes Warren voted for it. It passed 50-50 with Kamala Harris breaking the tie.
Warren is not offering to bring prices down. She is offering to keep printing away your savings while blaming the people who produce what you buy.
And here is the part you may not even realize: if the government had not spent over a century debasing the currency, starting with the creation of the Federal Reserve in 1913 and accelerating when Nixon severed the dollar from gold in 1971, that gallon of gas would cost less today than 57 cents thanks to advances in drilling, refining, and transportation technology. They did not just fail to lower prices. They prevented them from falling naturally.
"Fair share" - the phrase every looter uses when he wants what he didn't earn.
You call them "oligarchs" while proposing to seize 5% of their wealth by force. Who is the one wielding state power here, Senator?
You just proposed a moratorium on AI data centers - literally trying to freeze the most productive technology of our era. How many jobs, how much wealth, how much human progress does YOUR agenda cost Americans? No one tallies that bill.
California's billionaires are already fleeing to Nevada. The Hoover Institution estimates this tax will cost the state $25 billion net. You would destroy the golden goose and then call it justice while ignoring the price paid in blood, sweat and tears because of your policies.
"The people want it" - 54% voting to confiscate another man's property doesn't make it right. Two wolves and a sheep voting on dinner is not moral governance. Rights are not subject to majority rule. That is why we are a republic.
You have spent decades producing nothing, creating nothing, building nothing - while demanding an ever-larger share of what others build. That is not fairness. It is the plunder of a man who knows too little.
@SeanscSs@hjluks Do you have a set of dumbbells in your living room and at your work station? When you get a phone call do you walk & talk? So many easy wins if you adopt a Jocko Willink type mindset.
Five-year cost of continuous biometric tracking with interpretation:
Fitbit Air: $99
Apple Watch: $399
Oura: $699
Whoop One: $995
Whoop MG: $1,795
(Annual physical: ~$1,500)
Apple set the floor in 2015. Whoop upsold it. Google just demolished it.

@jselanikio Great article on your link. Resonates with me. With tracking (oura + polar) & blood tests a few times a year at Quest, I don't take time for physicals anymore. It's been years now.
Abolishing private property in 2 easy steps
Step 1 - Rent control: Rent is lower than costs and taxes so you can't do maintenance.
Step 2 - Seizure: You don't have the money to do maintenance and the state uses it as an excuse to take your property.
Unfortunately, I completely agree that the United States of America is rapidly descending into all-out conflict between left and right.
The Luigi left, Kirk killers, anti-Tesla terrorists, and Altman attackers are already in shoot-on-sight mode against conservatives, libertarians, and technologists. The right isn’t there yet; they’re called reactionaries because they only react, so they’re always one cycle behind. Thus, the left has already started shooting while the right is still “only” mirroring the lawfare of last decade’s left. But anyone can see how incandescently angry the American right is getting, so one can expect them to mirror leftist tactics eventually, just as J6 followed BLM.
A problem then arises. You see, when communists and nationalists duke it out, technologists tend to be hated by both sides…and tend to leave.
That’s what happened in Europe. In the early 1900s, Europe was the undisputed center of science. But then the far left rose to power in Russia, and in response arose a far right in Germany, and then those two psychotic factions blew each other up and took much of Europe with them.
The result was that scientists with options left. Shown below is the graph of Nobel prizes. Science used to be centered in Europe when America was still a relative backwater…renowned for cranking out widgets but not much else.
Then, as Europe tore itself apart, the smart scientists (and capitalists) simply left for America. Many had no choice; you just couldn’t be a Russian capitalist in the Soviet Union or a Jewish scientist in Nazi Germany, no matter how many years your family might have been in the country.
Passionate protestations of ideological loyalty and everlasting patriotism didn’t matter. At best the enemy classes and races were unbanked and denaturalized; at worst they were simply killed.
And arguably, all of that — the communism, the nationalism, the wars — all of that arose from the disruption wrought by the Industrial Revolution. We might anticipate similar levels of disruption from the Information Revolution.
If so, if America is torn between Democrats and Republicans, or Wokes and MAGAs, or whatever factions succeed them, it’s just not going to be a good place for technological progress. Instead, progress will decentralize to other locations around the world, as it did before.

Until Judges are held accountable it won’t stop.
The con continues... Nothing is free. Someone pays for every diaper, every meal, and every preschool seat. That someone is the California taxpayer, who already pays the highest state income tax, the highest gas prices, and the highest cost of living in the nation while Newsom runs a $68 billion deficit.
"Stop talking about lowering costs for families. DO IT." You are not lowering costs. You are shifting them. The family that receives "free" diapers is paying for them through taxes, inflated housing, $5.84 gas, and an economy you are driving into the ground. A family that flees California for Texas saves more on rent in one month than your diaper program provides in a year.
This is the oldest trick in the socialist playbook. Take money from people through taxation, give a fraction of it back as a "benefit," then campaign on your generosity with THEIR own money. You are not helping families. You are laundering their tax dollars through Sacramento and claiming you are somehow helping them.
@hjluks I'm confused by this one, perhaps b/c not understanding LT1 v Z1 v HR. If one jogs/rides in Z2 per Polar H10, e.g., HR of 130, do they fall into this 2nd group and you are saying run more and do it slower?
“I have never understood why it is 'greed' to want to keep the money you have earned but not greed to want to take somebody else's money.”

@hjluks@Hewett1Tim Seems like 2 years can be medically correct, but given the short shelf-life for pro/college/olympic athletes, 2 years wouldn't make sense.
