On more/enhanced Gun Control Laws as the solution to gun violence, mass shootings, etc.
1. CRIMINALS - by definition - do not obey LAWS.
2. Criminals willing to commit the most punishable crime of MURDER, are not deterred by possible consequences for committing the lesser crimes of illegally obtaining and possessing a firearm.
3. There are over 1.5 firearms per person in the USA, so there is no way - no laws which can ever exist - that we can prevent people from easily obtaining a firearm if they so wish, regardless of the laws.
4. Most gun violence and deaths happen at the end of a HAND GUN by far, rifles account for only a small fraction of the deaths, yet all the "gun control laws" that the left keeps pushing are aimed at the made-up term "assault weapons" centered on rifles.
5. Violent criminals prefer to break the law in areas where they know that their VICTIMS - the law abiding "we the people" citizens - are most likely to be UNARMED themselves, which is why in reality in the United States of America, "gun-free" zones - that being areas which have the strongest gun control laws - are targets which receive MORE violent crime, whereas areas with strong 2nd amendment protections - where the law abiding citizens are carrying guns to protect themselves - have the LEAST incidents of violent crime in comparison. Ergo, 18 of the top 20 most violent crime ridden cities are controlled by Democrat leadership, even in the few Red states where the overall violent crime rates surpass that of blue states, the incidents of it are concentrated in left-controlled cities therein.
6. Blaming guns for murder is like blaming spoons for the obesity epidemic. It's completely asinine.
7. The framers of this nation understood what TYRANNY is, and that an armed population is the *only* thing which has any chance whatsoever at preventing it. It's not negotiable, but if you think that it is, then you need to create a movement for there to be a constitutional amendment to override or modify the 2nd amendment. Anything short of that is just attempting to subvert the constitution.
8. The way forward here is to bring back insane asylums, or "mental heath institutions" if you prefer that more politically correct nomenclature. Reagan made a grave error in shutting them down in the 1980's. Mental illness, drug addiction and refusal to work for a living (and being able to get away with that via tax-payer-funded enabling of said behavior) are a massive component of the problem here.
9. There weren't school shootings like nowadays for hundreds of years whilst the 2nd amendment existed, and guns were even more freely owned and carried in that time. Enhanced Gun Control Laws/Regulations are the impotent bastard cousin to the Wars on Drugs and Terror, none of it works. Subverting free will doesn't work. Instead, teaching civics and creating law-abiding, moral citizens that use guns responsibly is the answer. Teaching morality, and to accept that there is a moral authority higher than ourselves, greater than the virtue of mankind, which is to be respected and feared, that is the answer. Teaching that human life is sacred in the eyes of this authority, and therefore the dignity of human life is the highest moral virtue we can adopt, that is the answer.
