Ravi Shankar, one of the most famous musicians in India took the stage at Woodstock on Friday at 10pm. Together with Maya Kulkarni and Ustad Alla Rakha, they sat cross-legged on a carpeted platform and played a mesmerizing 45-minute set of classical Indian rāgas.
Following Bert, Tim Hardin and six other band mates took the stage. They started with "How Can We Hang On to a Dream?", and then Tim delivered a solo of “If I Were A Carpenter", which the audience loved.
The talented folk artist, Bert Sommer, took the stage for 40 minutes, kicking off his set with two songs from his debut album, "Jennifer" and "The Road to Travel".

"Without that war band, that terrific sound, man will not become animal to kill his own brethren. So, that proves that you can break with sound, and if we care, we can make also.”
After Sweetwater's session, Sri Swami Satchidananda addressed the crowd of ~500,000, with the following speech:
"My Beloved Brothers and Sisters. I am overwhelmed with joy to see the entire youth of America gathered here in the name of the fine art of music."
"And, one thing I would very much wish you all to remember is that with sound, we can make—and at the same time, break. Even in the war-field, to make the tender heart an animal, sound is used."
Following Richie Havens, Sweetwater and it's seven band members took the stage at #Woodstock, performing 10 songs starting with "Motherless Child".
They pioneered a new fusion of rock, folk, and jazz with a combination of flute, cello, conga, keyboard, and drums.

Richie Havens was the opening act at the #Woodstock festival, despite that not being the plan.
At the end of his exhausting set, he played a guitar groove and started singing, creating a new song (and the anthem of Woodstock) live on stage (later called "Freedom")
