I've had the unfortunate experience of experiencing this first hand in Dover, one of the worst days of my life.
The level of kindness, caring and selflessness I experienced in that process from people who I was taught were unkind, uncaring and selfish changed my life in the most profound ways.
@ginamilan_ From Kenya.
@grok what % of people in Kenya have access to clean drinking water and safe sanitation/sewer systems, what % complete a high-school equivalent education? What's the average IQ?
@Wafunya comments?
I've spent the past several months internally conflicted about the flock debate and what you just said completely clarified it.
Do I want safer communities? Of course.
Do I have some fundamental aversion to cameras and surveillance in public? there are bad uses for it but I do not fundamentally disagree with it.
Do I think flock is being implemented and run in a way which is actually beneficial to our society and our communities? Not at all.
If flock wants support they should be partnering with law enforcement and producing 1990s-era cops TV-show-style programming (on X of course :D) showcasing how their products are making communities actually safer.
The broader system (political and judicial) also need to be aligned to make things work but Flock could be helping there too!
Flock could totally turn this around in a weekend.
@RunemirQi@georgevibing Can you answer his question though, I'm genuinely not sure if you're this dumb or this is just good satire. Poe's law in action
@mythotrad The funniest part of this is that you could easily keep this going until the end of the year without repeats and probably until next pride month.
I actually wonder how hard it was to get the company to not pay for this.
From my prior time in a $LARGEORG, having them let basically anything lapse was met with disdain of "its only money and we might need it later, what if it costs us more to re-establish the subscription later?"
We're spending $XX/month on licenses for $SOFTWARE, nobody is using it, we should cancel it.
But how do you know they aren't using it?
It tells me the last login time, nobody has logged in besides me in the last year.
AHA, so someone DOES use it, lets just keep it in case!
$XX/month was many multiples of a single employees salary.
This was RAMPANT during COVID.
You have nobody coming to the office. You do not need to pay Poland Spring to show up and replace water bottles weekly for the 2 people who are onsite.
You do not need to clean the bathrooms twice a day anymore. Once a week is fine. The cleaners do not need to clean the whole office daily. They can do a general cleaning of the office once a month and a cleaning of the people who are in the office every week if those people want.
You can cancel the fresh flower delivery service and the magazine subscriptions and newspaper deliveries to impress the exactly 0 visitors who literally never use them anyway because they just scroll tik-tok on their phone while waiting.
@sovngarde You're young.
Nothing wrong with your love for this movie or how much you love it, just remember, the best case scenario is that something else surpasses it in the future. It won't take away from our love of PHM.
It would be a boring life if movies peaked in 2026 :)
