@canncon @camhigby There are different types of .30-06 ammo. Some are hunting rounds soft tips that fragment, some are FMJ which are less likely to fragment.

@angertab @Emi72790 @IanCarrollShow Probably bought ammo at Walmart which doesn’t sell FMJ. Maybe core-lokt 220gr, targeted head, but bullet dropped at that range, entered neck, hit spine and fragmented. Bullets do weird things all the time.

Special forces sniper thinks this is a logical trajectory for a .30-06 carrying 2000+ foot pounds of force.

Turns out according to Matt’s expert opinion, bullets turn at immediate sharp angles when they contact soft flesh and then necks don’t explode when they absorb the energy dump implicit in that change of direction. Then, said bullet does more than right angle turns again (and the neck still intact) and then the bullet still carries enough force to penetrate all the way down into the heart, pulverizing the vertebrae all the way down.
