@Crossy_C98 @hot_takes_moss Yeah. Basically. DQVIII was designed to maximise the PS2 hardware. Similarly, a game like Resident Evil Revelations would have required drastic downgrades on PS2 (as PS2 did not support normal mapping & per pixel lighting for example which were baked into 3DS hardware).

@DragonCatalyst Farebury is the most affected area on 3DS visually because it has a lot of vegetation. It's not quite as bad in other areas. I believe having symbol encounters played a role - it was a planned addition for PS2 originally but omitted for technical reasons.
