We have now achieved plasmas with pressures as high as 1.6 GPa, comparable to the pressures found deep below Earth’s crust. Introducing the latest Zap reactor, FuZE-3... https://t.co/TfYoXYUKsI
After a furious effort to design and then quickly build FuZE-3, earlier this year we started running it. Within 6 months we had plasmas way, way denser than anything we had ever seen before. This was a big effort and a nice jump forward.
@ElmarMoelzer@Energy_Zap In a way it's directly a successor to FuZE because it's using FuZE's capacitor banks, but otherwise it's alongside FuZE-Q. FuZE-Q still has higher power input.
After 3 years working on fusion, this is very much where I stand: "Increasingly, it looks like a prosaic engineering problem: hard, expensive, time-consuming — but ultimately solvable. That’s a challenge Americans should embrace." https://t.co/EMKmaxLbFg
What does a flowing Z pinch look like? Video from two high-speed cameras simultaneously capture a linear plasma assembling inside FuZE-Q. As you can see, the plasma looks more like a river than a lightning bolt, but has aspects of each. Our latest blog post explains more: https://t.co/evmFDo5XGp #fusion #fusionenergy #plasmaphysics
Zap co-founder Uri Shumlak joined leaders of the plasma science and engineering community to author a new position paper, "Plasma Science and Engineering: A Foundational Asset For National and Economic Security." Please read, share, and sign. https://t.co/z2fYWNIyyV
He's not wrong - there was a lot of rhetoric supporting fusion during the Biden Administration, but little action. Now is the time for bold, decisive action to support fusion. Thanks @RepDonaldsPress for your support. Now time to put it into action with real funding.
@mheisler_marcus@Energy_Zap No, it's never been designed to be steady-state. The question is how long the stable period is and how long you can maintain it.
A new Zap research paper details neutron isotropy measurements that provide the most stringent validation yet that our sheared-flow-stabilized Z pinches generate stable, thermal fusion without any external magnets for confinement. https://t.co/PdBJnLdlQu
Voting for the @ScienceTalkOrg meeting is open and as usual it's a veritable smorgasbord of interesting #scicomms workshop and talk proposals. You have about a week left to vote on what you'd like to see and then we'll start pulling together the agenda for this spring!
🎉 Voting is OPEN now through Nov 13 for #ScienceTalk2025! Help shape the sessions you want to see next year!

No republicans voted for the IRA but republican-led states are benefiting from it more than democrat-led ones due to economics and regulation. Gotta love this country. https://t.co/lHKGxl79lB
@spacekoala@is_fusion@Energy_Zap Theoretically we have one, but empirically it's more complicated. There's a lot that has to line up to make all the physics work, but that's what we're working on!
