This is MY LAST POST on my old X account.
I'm deleting this old account eventually, it has been reach limited since Twitter (their regime not liking my politics), and Elon won't un-fug it. He did for big accounts but not little 10k accounts.
Feel free to un-follow this account and follow my new one: https://t.co/hKw9M2uX5h
Here are my shots from today of the chromosphere of our whole glorious Sun. On my new account.

@Gigantor44@joeroganhq Was a great club. John Lee Hooker played there, BB King, Sun Ra, Taj Mahal, etc etc.
Small place. Fire capacity 399, but he often oversold it. So much dancing there was sweat on the walls and ceiling after some shows.
Was my first real adult job paying my own rent.
@Tyler2ONeil "whom SPLC says were merely informants."
Where did they address this? Link please?
I thought they were staying silent and continuing to beg for money since this bombshell dropped.
Well, for both solar and nighttime we shoot with a scope on a mount that follows the target across the sky.
For night we take lots of long exposures (2 minute, 3 minute, 4 minute long, or more), then stack them in software to bring out the dim targets.
For solar (and lunar), we use "Lucky Imaging." We shoot video, very short frames, like 5 milliseconds each frame. I usually shoot 500 frames. Then stack it in software.
For solar I also add a very narrow-band etalon that only lets through a very specific wavelength, a section of Hydrogen-alpha. 656.28 nanometers.
Though for solar I add a filter that blocks out and reflects over 99.9 percent of the sunlight, or else it would melt my camera.
This is a pic of the glass filter I use, shown next to a large computer mouse.
I shoot in mono and add orange sometimes, but the Sun is white, so a color camera just wastes pixels.
Fun fact: I played a set with his fiddle player Boyd Tinsley at a bar in Charlottesville before that band existed, when I lived there in the early 80s.
He liked my songs and spent a few hours learning a 30 minute set. I worked at the bar, so I was able to get the gig. Opened for NRBQ.
Bar was called The Mineshaft. Later the bar got closed down because the owner was dealing weight of coke for the Armenian mob through the bar.
Found that out when my band Bomb came back to town on tour, had a gig there.
We showed up for soundcheck and there was a US Marshal sign on the door that the place had been seized and there was a chain and padlock on the door.
We ended up playing a basement party and having a good time.
Second time we showed up to a bar and it was no more. Other time in Columbus Ohio. We showed up and had gone out of business that day. Waitress even showed up for her shift, another waitress drove down and told us.
Ended up playing a party that time too.
I'm just paying back the universe because a guy helped me when I was starting out and answered all my questions. This guy. Anthony Quintile.
He's amazing, way past me in Astro (a decade longer too), and wins awards all the time, Image of the Day on AstroBin, and even a NASA Image of the Day.
He and I used to be bike messengers and play in a band together in San Francisco.

Today's Photo Challenge is the color RED
Quote it or Share it ๐
Fun fact: Red is a powerful primal color that instantly raises your heart rate, boosts energy and appetite, sparks passion & excitement, and makes you feel more attractive and dominant. It grabs attention and screams action! ๐ฅ
Over thirty years ago, on those magical nights of chasing melody and sonic purism as an amateur techno DJ in the early 90s, I worked with tubes, analogue circuits and all those so-called "legacy" things. And they did the job โ brutally, beautifully well.
Then transistors, ICs and the shiny digital world took over. But somewhere along the way the magic of those early days was gone, and I had to go looking for it all over again: the old ways, the virtues of the past.
Now, I've found my way back, and I keep wondering why it took me so long to realize that old things are still the real deal.
Tonight, all I can share with you is enthusiasm and a melodic photo full of magic. See below.
