A 42-year-old man was riding a southbound 5 train shortly before 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday when another man walked up and started an argument with him.

The victim got off at the Wall Street stop, but the suspected followed him while wielding a black sock containing a hard object.

The man pummeled the victim in the face with the stuffed sock, leaving him with gashes, police said.

Grinstead was 14-years-old at the time of the shooting but he is being charged as an adult.
