I think a lot of people are getting ahead of themselves here.
Scenes like this are normal in rural hospitals across Nigeria — and conditions are often much worse.
Focusing on one image to label the doctor a quack misses the point entirely. I don’t see it that way.

Yes, he wasn’t properly dressed for theatre.
But during my NYSC in a rural missionary hospital, it was exactly the same. When you’re handling multiple surgeries and another emergency comes in, the priority is saving the life — not aesthetics. Many critics here don’t seem to understand that.

The fan is a problem, no doubt. But what if there’s no fan at all? Should the doctor collapse from heat?
In most of these settings there’s no air conditioning — and even when it exists, there’s often no power to run it. Yet the work still has to be done. ⚡

Doctors should be careful about sharing images like this.
A lot of people on Twitter live in a completely different world. They will seize one imperfect example and use it to condemn the entire system (and I’m not saying the system is perfect).

What many miss is this: in these exact conditions, lives are being saved every day — lives that would otherwise have been lost.
We also don’t know the full details of the case. It could have been a minor procedure (appendectomy or excisional biopsy), which is why full sterile attire and boots weren’t used.
Our first instinct should never be to create content just for engagement or monetization.

Hardworking Nigerian doctors are out here every day, stretching scarce resources to save lives under very difficult conditions.
Let’s stop the hasty judgments and foolishness when we don’t see the full picture. Patient care comes first — not appearances or viral posts.
