Affirmations about DL, hybrid, and self! I ❤️ this and seek ways to be honest and healthy. Last year was tough, professionally and personally. I will do better and be better. Learn. Grow. Take feedback. #scchat
Great way of showing the world some of the difficulties that school staff endure each day. Lucy Laney staff and students create a place where everyone can grow! Amazing piece by kare11.
Watched this documentary tonight. Couldn't stop tearing up thinking about the staff who work so hard and the kids who deserve the best. Thank you @kare11 for making this happen. Stay strong Lucy Laney, the world can learn a lot from you! #everyschoolisagreatschool

There is no mastery without feedback. But it’s hard.
This checklist has really helped me over the years.
My mantra for receiving feedback: Be brave. Listen. You can take what’s helpful and leave the rest.
My mantra for giving feedback: Clear is kind. Unclear is unkind.
3 big ideas for transforming grading: 1) Stu can't behave their way (directly) up/down the achievement scale, 2) Stu grade/level shouldn't be dependent upon who the teacher is, & 3) Stu grade/level shouldn't be about comparisons to other students. #GFIO#atAssess#sblchat
1. Grading is, always has been, and always will be subjective - and we don't have to apologize for that.
2. Grades are not essential for learning, feedback is.
3. Grades in most high schools are with us for the foreseeable future so we must make them effective. #mohawkedchat
Ugh...I am guilty of many of these including the 29 tabs I have open right now. Good reminders - Habits That Destroy Your Focus and Productivity https://t.co/dtGZ1dhFNg
My favorite line- “the world is changing, the research and evidence become irrelevant if you don’t consider a new context.”.... standardized tests don’t tell us everything about the context.
Five goals when defusing an upset kid:
1. Treat student w dignity.
2. Preserve your own dignity.
3. Keep them in class.
4. Remain a 2nd to last word person.
5. Teach & practice an alternative.
