This unnamed girl was the last of the 147 dogs to walk out of the @CityOfMidland Animal Shelter in a 30-hour mass fostering effort.

Fix West Texas worked with other rescues to make sure that no dog was euthanized because of the distemper crisis. 🐶🐾

The Univ of TX Permian Basin @utpb received $10M from Permian Strategic Partnership and Scharbauer Foundation to cover tuition for graduate students who live in 1 of 22 counties in WTX and SE NM, pursuing a master’s degree in social work, clinical psychology, and counseling.

On Thursday April 18 the Midland TX Animal Services Director said a distemper outbreak would likely require that dozens of animals be euthanized.

Local advocates have been working tirelessly to find homes for the dogs by Saturday April 20.

Last year, the Midland West Side Lions Club and volunteers distributed 1000 backpacks in 90 minutes during their Annual Back To School Bash!

2023 is their 18th year of generosity to Midland, Texas students. The drive-through backpack give-away will be held Saturday, July 29th.

Midland ISD will be serving summer meals beginning Monday, June 5.

Meals are available for FREE for any child or teen aged 18 or younger. You do not have to be enrolled at MISD to participate and can go to any campus to receive the free meals. No ID is necessary.
