An Illinois state court judge has denied the Chicago Blackhawks' request for summary judgment in a negligence suit filed by a second John Doe who alleges he was sexually assaulted by former team video coach Brad Aldrich.
A trial date in the case could be set as soon as October 2025 after the Blackhawks argued unsuccessfully that the case should be dismissed because of limitations periods.
A Cook County Circuit Court judge wrote in a June 24 decision that the case record includes depositions of John Doe and former Blackhawks coach Paul Vincent, excerpts of a transcript of a deposition by former Blackhawks psychologist James Gary, and the Jenner & Block report, a third-party report that was published in October 2021 and corroborated the sexual assault claims of former Blackhawks player Kyle Beach, who settled his claim against the NHL team before a trial.
