Soybean meal vs canola meal: what's the connection?
They're competitors.
Both are what's left after crushing oilseeds for oil. Crush soybeans and you get soybean meal; crush canola (rapeseed) and you get canola meal. Both are mainly used as protein ingredients in animal feed.
The difference: Soybean meal: higher protein, the most widely produced oilseed meal in the world, used for pigs, poultry and fish
Canola meal: lower protein, commonly traded around 38% protein in China, generally used more in poultry and aquaculture feed
That's why soybean meal usually costs more. When the price gap widens, feed mills use less soybean meal and more canola meal. When it narrows, they switch back.
How wide is the gap now?
According to Mysteel, at the end of August the spread in China's main markets was 680 to 780 yuan per tonne. In Guangdong, for example, soybean meal was 3,110 yuan per tonne and canola meal 2,420 yuan.
It's one reason changes in canola seed imports eventually show up in feed costs.

@Nithya_Shrii It's mostly the depreciation curve. A new vehicle loses value fastest early on, so buying a few years old means you skip the steepest part of the drop
Wagyu and Angus: worth the price, or just marketing?
Short answer: not entirely marketing, but a breed name alone doesn't guarantee quality. The grade is what matters.
Angus is a breed of black cattle, not a quality standard. In the US, a label that just says "Angus beef" has no quality requirement beyond the breed itself.
Certified Angus Beef is different. The beef must first grade USDA Choice or Prime, then pass 10 additional specifications covering marbling, size and consistency. According to the brand, only about 4 in 10 Angus cattle qualify.
Japanese Wagyu comes from four native Japanese cattle breeds and is graded by the Japan Meat Grading Association. The letter (A to C) measures yield, meaning how much saleable meat comes off the carcass. The number (1 to 5) measures meat quality, with marbling scored separately from 1 to 12. The top grade, A5, requires a marbling score of 8 to 12.
Most "American Wagyu" in the US is actually a Wagyu and Angus cross, commonly 50% Wagyu. According to several beef retailers, labels don't always say what percentage of Wagyu genetics is in the animal.
How to avoid paying for a name
Look at the grade, not just the breed.
US beef: check the USDA grade (Prime, Choice, Select)
Angus: look for the "Certified" mark
Wagyu: check for Japanese grading, or ask about the Wagyu percentage
