.@FresnoStateCAH graduate Mialise Carney was homeschooled as a child and by 16, she hadn’t opened a textbook in years. However, a Fresno State alumna mentored her and inspired her to continue her education. She’s now a successful writer and editor, mentoring the next generation.

NEW FACULTY: We will soon welcome Prof. Brenna Womer as an assistant professor. A specialist in creative writing, Prof. Womer in the fall will teach Engl 164 Advanced Creative Nonfiction Writing, and Engl 265, the MFA Seminar in Creative Nonfiction Writing.
NEW FACULTY: We will soon welcome Prof. Juan Carlos Garzon Mantilla as an assistant professor. A specialist in world literatures, Prof. Mantilla in the fall will teach Engl 30 Readings in World Literature, and Engl 101 Masterpieces of World Literature.

It is with much excitement and joy that I announce I will be starting a fully funded Ph.D. in Comparative Literature with a focus in Classics at UC Davis this fall; my research will focus on animal fables from classical antiquity, Africa, Mesoamerica, and medieval Europe. 🎉
