A Chinese government official just received the death penalty for taking $325 million in bribes. No plea deal. No book deal. No years of appeals and cable news interviews. No retirement package. Death. Now you can say whatever you want about China but when they decide corruption will not be tolerated they mean it in a way that no western government has the spine to match. In America politicians leave office wealthier than they entered, write memoirs about their service, and get paid $500,000 to give speeches to the banks they were supposed to regulate. The consequences are not even in the same universe.
