The Rhyme is going to #OFF24! What an honour, the news had me on the floor! A dream come true, team work was the key, a fairytale start to our festival journey!
And from the bottom of my heart, thank you to those trusting me with your stories. Your lived experiences.
“The little girl with her umbrella,
brings love to every little fellow.
And all they hear her dance flawlessly,
But now her voice they finally see.”
Thank you to our sponsors Odense Filmværksted Dansk Skuespiller Forbund Nyborg Kommune seeing my vision, believing we could take this ambitious project across the finish line and to every consultant offering their time, energy and support to the story!
of what it could be, staying with me through my most perfectionistic moments even when we were told our ambitions were too high. If we couldn’t fly to the moon, we made one and brought it to us instead!
I still cannot express how humbled I am by those who believed in the story, believed in me. By the talented, passionate and dedicated team of over 40 people that without hesitation jumped into this dark fairytale universe with me and worked tirelessly to make it the best version
We are now in the 21st century, in a little theatre on Fyn where rehearsals for an upcoming show are taking place. Yet behind the colourful masks lie a dark secret. How do we act when something terrible happens in front of us? Do we shut our eyes or do we listen stand up and act?
A few years later I was back in Denmark beginning to assemble our dream team. A series was too big to start OFF, so after getting to the core of the story in a short film format pitching it to forums like Screen Talent Europe at OFF2...
It was set in the 1920s at a club in NYC - a murder mystery about two sisters taking up the fight against the patriarchy on different sides of the law.
I first attended OFF as a guest in 2018 dreaming of one day having my own film at my hometown’s magical festival. The same year, in Edinburgh where I studied Criminology an idea popped into my mind. An idea for a series.
Additional shoutout to my always supportive family and friends, particularly Mother Refning who's fed me the most delicious plant food and always been there through the stressful times as a filmmaker and activist.
Best Director for @Actnow_film! Such an incredible feeling to see the film on the big screen and think "it's done" - no small graphics to change, no sound problems. Even better to hide in the audience and hear the reactions. Thank you to everyone who helped me get here! 💚
Thank you to Mila Todd and Scientist Rebellion for all the trust you put in me to tell your story. I learned so much in this process I'm so grateful to take with me into future projects.
Thank you to the talented jury who saw the passion and hard work I put into this story, all the incredible people who guided me the past 1,5 years in post (you know who you are), the one and only Elise for sticking by me and editing the best possible version of this film.
Calling in Our Corals made the Google Homepage! Excited to see our project with @mary_shodipo@daveerasmus and @googlearts on the landing page. Feel free to take a dive and help us analyse coral reef recordings from around the world: https://t.co/jkVvvh11D2
"ActNow: An Activist Story" is officially finished! After 14 days of 24/7 filming in Glasgow and 1,5 years of editing at Ofilm we have the final version of Mila Todd's story ready to show to the world. We hope it inspires to fight for what you believe in as it's done for us.
