@NumstepBass @PPFA PP was started by Margaret Sanger, not for abortion because at the time abortion was illegal. It was made illegal in the US because of racism. The two main reasons that it was made illegal in the late 1800s were 1) they felt there weren't enough white babies being born and
@Agony1013 @DrJenLincoln It's not as rare as you think it it. I've seen it happen SEVERAL times in child welfare. Even if it was rare, why would you make ANY child go through something like that?
@jamie_reinhold@DrJenLincoln "I think an 11 year old little girl should be forced to push a baby out of her body, destroying her anatomy and giving her problems both medical and psychological for years to come."
@DrJenLincoln My mom tells me the story of my birth, in which she shared a recovery room with a 13-year-old new mother whose family was overjoyed that there was a new baby. She uses this story as a litmus test: are you rightly horrified, or are you "happy the girl made the right choice?"
@DrJenLincoln My aunt volunteered at a nonprofit years ago, and met a 12 year old in her 3rd trimester... the father was 11. Her parents refused abortion flat out.
Conservatives complain about taxes, but outlawing abortion will result in lots of kids in the system...
@DrJenLincoln History lesson time! Margaret Beaufort, the mother of Henry VII, was married at 12 and gave birth to him at 13. The birth was incredibly difficult and almost killed her. She never had another child, because of complications. Literal children shouldn't be having babies.
@DrJenLincoln One of the first deliveries I saw as a medical student was to a 15 year old. Even at that age, it was still so clearly a child suffering through childbirth.
