Johanna is an associate in the firm's Litigation practice group. Her practice focuses on general litigation matters, including insurance defense, personal injury, product liability, and coverage matters.
For physicians and healthcare providers, understanding how damages are evaluated is key to grasping the full scope of a claim and what may ultimately be at stake.
Part 5 of our Med Mal 101: Back to Basics series breaks down the types of damages a plaintiff may seek, from medical expenses and lost earnings to the more complex realities of pain, suffering, and loss of life. If your company liquidated or sold major assets before 2026, those gains may qualify as nonbusiness income and not be taxed across every state you operated in.

Recently, through our Friday Cares initiative, our teams in Little Rock and Rogers supported two organizations making a direct impact in our communities:
The Van, which provides outreach, essentials, and emergency shelter support for our unsheltered neighbors in Central Arkansas.
Northwest Arkansas Women's Shelter, which offers safety, resources, and advocacy for individuals and families affected by domestic violence in Northwest Arkansas.
Thanks to the generosity of our attorneys, staff, and firm, we raised:
$5,145 for The Van
$2,050 for the NWA Women’s Shelter
Friday Cares is one way we live out our commitment to being a community partner, not just a service provider. We’re grateful to everyone who contributed and to these organizations for the work they do every day.
