Climate change is a reality..first alarming heat waves for two days and then unexpected suddenly hail storms hitting Southern KP Bannu, Lakki and Karak..dozens causalities,more than 100 people, 100s of cattle and 1000s of wild birds..infrastructure destroyed.

Thunderstorm & heavy rainfall wreaked havoc in KP. At least 100 people died and over 300 were injured in rain-related incidents as torrential showers battered Karak, Bannu and Lakki Marwat districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.

I have never really thought about which substances in the smell of soil influence my state of mind, but I can say from experience that it is true.

People need livelihoods on the ground in Sindh and Balochistan before we ask them to farm or husband water sustainably. They do that anyway when they have nothing left after climate calamities. Policy discussions must reflect that reality on the ground @IUCN today
