This is the horrific reality behind #foiegras. 🪿
🔴 Force-fed through 12-inch metal tubes up to three times a day
🔴 Livers swelling to 10 times their normal size
🔴 Diseased organs, difficulty breathing, internal hemorrhages
Foie gras isn't a 'luxury.' It's the result of extreme animal torture.
Last week, Portland, Oregon banned foie gras. The fight for a nationwide ban in Brazil is underway.
The fight is working. Now help us keep going.
@TheBrokenMan123@trustlessexp@Rado9910 They are fattened. We’re not feeding them because they got hungry. In some cases like with chickens they are fattened to the point that their legs snap under their own body weight
@TheBrokenMan123@trustlessexp@Rado9910 I haven’t heard a cogent argument as to why your preference for meat means animals should suffer on a mass scale. That is kind of what debating is about. We each hold our opinions about what we think is right and what is justifiable, then duke it out
@TheBrokenMan123@trustlessexp@Rado9910 I am a new class of human that is further evolved back into a herbivore and I statistically will live even longer than my omnivorous counterparts
@trustlessexp@TheBrokenMan123@Rado9910 We can slowly dismantle the entire “meat is better” stance. Took out the nature leg with the lab-grown. Taste is easy. It’s simply a preference which changes with exposure to the new thing. Now we gotta hit him with the health studies 😝
@TheBrokenMan123@trustlessexp@Rado9910 Oh so you knew this was a total dodge when we were discussing animal suffering. Since that’s the only state you ever would have seen these animals in
https://t.co/NCB7KlnDax
@TheBrokenMan123@trustlessexp@Rado9910 Let me ask a final question: If given a choice between two identical pieces of meat - one lab grown and one from a slaughtered animal - which would you choose? No detectable difference
@trustlessexp@TheBrokenMan123@Rado9910 What’s the point in arguing who is the bigger victim. All three of us agree that factory farming cause mass suffering, do we not? Can’t we skip to the part where we acknowledge that’s a bad thing?
@TheBrokenMan123@trustlessexp@Rado9910 They have different meanings but they aren’t so different. Morals are opinions about right and wrong. I wasn’t trying to alter anything. And Nature doesn’t care about either one
@TheBrokenMan123@trustlessexp@Rado9910 The pain of dying is FAR from the only suffering a farmed animal endures in the fraction of a natural lifespan they get to live
@TheBrokenMan123@trustlessexp@Rado9910 You just like the convenience, taste, and supposed benefits that their suffering brings you more than you’d like them not to suffer. All it takes is a little bit of research, an ounce of effort, and a willingness to be honest with yourself to overcome the cognitive dissonance
@TheBrokenMan123@trustlessexp@Rado9910 But in fact, animal suffering does give you pleasure. Factory farmed animals’ (which I’m sure you consume) entire abbreviated lives are filled with suffering and abuse in unnatural conditions. They are no more natural than the GMO crops and supplements vegans consume
