Here's my tribute to former Hoo & Chattenden Parish Councillor Noreen Chambers, on behalf of The Independent Group (TIG), at the Full Council meeting of Medway Council on Thursday 16th July 2026.

I was very sad yesterday to learn that former Hoo Parish Councillor and Hoo Clean Up volunteer Noreen Chambers passed away on 24th June 2026.
Noreen, who was also a talented artist, volunteered with the Hoo Clean Up team from its very first session in January 2012...
Ten volunteers attended the Hoo Clean Up litter pick today - collecting 17 bags of rubbish, and an old bin. Well done everyone!

We are saddened to learn that former Hoo Clean Up volunteer Noreen Chambers passed away on 24th June 2026.
Noreen joined the Hoo Clean Up team for its very first session in January 2012 and continued volunteering with us through to September 2018.
Noreen was a much-valued member of our volunteer team and the wider local community, and she will be very sadly missed. On behalf of everyone at the Hoo Clean Up (Part of The Friends of Hoo), we send our love and heartfelt condolences to Noreen’s family at this very sad time.

We then returned to St. Werburgh Church for refreshments, where Rev. Dr. Mark Borley kindly offered a reflection and prayer for Angela. Our thanks to him.

Seven volunteers attended today’s Hoo Clean Up litter pick, collecting 13 bags of rubbish. Well done everyone! We also gave a small show of support to the England team ahead of tonight’s World Cup match.
Following the litter pick, volunteers held a minute’s silence in Hoo Village Square for our team member Angela, who sadly passed away this week.
