Abi Whistance (The Liverpool Post) wrote a four-part investigation exposing a Liverpool housing charity which left its residents in dire conditions, yet funnelled millions of pounds into a complicated web of private firms linked to the charity’s owner. #PaulFootAward2025
It is certainly NOT from a position of strength. We have been highlighting serious issues for over 18 months. A number of councils / HSCPs have advised contracts would not be renewed due to the recent @ScotCharityReg investigation, turnover of trustees & financial concerns. 2/3
However, within days he seemed to have gotten cold feet. He claimed that his @ScotCharityReg "contacts" told him the regulator had no interest in the allegations. The reality was that they investigated the charity for over 15 months until May 2024. Why did they bury this story?
We have received information that points to @ThirdForceNews "killing" a story on @MungoFoundation. Their "journalist" Robert Armour replied to a whistle blower stating that if a complaint had been made to @ScotCharityReg about @MungoFoundation then "it's a story."
I don't think senior staff employed by @Enable_Tweets will be thrilled about @Theresa_Shearer reuniting Tricia Donnelly & @AndyPKerr1. There was a damning report by @AuditScotland on South Lanarkshire College under their governance. A snapshot here...
CEO Tricia Donnelly sat on the @SLCek board for 4 years until March this year, for part of her tenure she was the Senior Independent Member. @AuditScotland found a number of areas where @SLCek did not fully comply with the Code of Good Governance for Colleges. 2/4
Narcissists/psychopaths love charities!
Charities are easy to exploit. They have low governance processes, staff and volunteers who are well meaning & governing bodies which have limited resources. Plus, it is hard for people to believe that anyone associated with a charity would have ulterior motives.
I know of four charities that have been or are currently led by dark personalities.
I approached a director of one charity with evidence and he was dismissive. I approached the CFO of one of the other charities with evidence and he was so intertwined in the life of the dark personality CEO that he felt he could do nothing about it although he himself had seen many inappropriate behaviours. He eventually brought the issue to the chair who was angry that the CEO was being challenged.
The @MungoFoundation charity was recently the focus of an 18 month investigation by @ScotCharityReg. It has seen a dramatic fall in its @CareInspect grades & a huge increase in directors salaries since becoming independent from @ArchdiocGlasgow less than 5 years ago.#scandal 2/2
@jackiebmsp Dear Ms Baillie, we wrote to you regarding @MungoFoundation & our concerns. Staff and service users are now totally in the dark over the sudden announcement regarding joining @Enable_Tweets. Despite the obvious @ScottishLabour links, questions must be asked of the leadership.
We are calling for a full @ScotParl enquiry into how Chair Cathy Fallon & the CEO have destroyed the reputation of the charity to the point that it is no longer a viable entity. How much in public funds was spent? @jackiebmsp@Sandeshgulhane@agcolehamilton @GillianMacMSP 3/3

A year already fighting for the @MungoFoundation service users and staff. We have made a big difference but have only just got started. Our 500 emails campaign begins soon, highlighting issues with the charity to key #socialcare decision makers across Scotland. #MyXAnniversary
The troubled #Glasgow social care charity @MungoFoundation has published its annual report for 23/24. There is no mention at all that it was under investigation by @ScotCharityReg for the whole 12 months. Why is this not in the public domain? @theglasgowbell @MagsTaylorish
