Kenny Goes to Sleep by Kenny Gray

3 Sentence Review:

1. It’s a one-man comedy show composed of 10 vignettes in which Kenny transforms into the different characters that comprise his dreams

2. The performance is the spiritual child of Chris Farley and Tim Robinson, and it sort of feels like you’re watching an hour long Saturday Night Live audition tape (in a good way)

3. The musical transitions are very funny, but some of the sketches felt like underdeveloped, albeit potential-filled, ideas

Verdict: I’d recommend it to any fan of vintage SNL-esque humor

Boiler Room Six: A Titanic Story

1. Boiler Room Six is a one-man show telling the story of Frederick Barrett — a stoker on the Titanic — during his last few hours aboard

2. Foreman’s show is well acted, directed, and choreographed but the script hits very similar notes to the beloved James Cameron film

3. I wish Foreman had taken the opportunity to further develop characters introduced early in the show and/or fundamentally told a story beyond the one we already know

Verdict: Good option for history buffs and fans of the film

Lost… Found by K. Lorrel

3 Sentence Review:

1. In his one-man show Lorrel tells his life story while weaving in snippets of the wonderful music that’s helped him get through some exceptionally traumatic decades

2. Lorrel doesn’t seem to be performing as much as is he rawly recounting his trauma in a fashion that moved several audience members to tears

3. When I attended, Lorrel earned an enthusiastic standing ovation

Verdict: A great option for those looking for a raw memoir

Sophie’s Surprise 29th Birthday

2.This is the MOST FUN I’ve had at any show this month; the stunts were flawless and had me involuntarily blurting “Oh My God” and “Holy Shit!”

https://t.co/SYiHdg8vz0 friends and I debated whether or not we found the acrobatics more or less impressive than Olympic gymnastics, and we agreed that in other venues these tickets could easily sell for £100+

Verdict: Spectacular. I’ll be going multiple times.

Woodrow by Marissa Landy

1. Woodrow is a one-woman show following the casting calls of a loony, 70-something, wannabe actor as he sings and dances through auditions

2. Even while she's sporting a fake mustache, you can tell @marissalandy is a talented singer and performer

3. I’d happily give Woodrow the role❤️, but I’d primarily recommend the show to younger audiences

Verdict: A good option for parents looking for a laugh with youngsters

1. Influenced follows the journey of Erik, an insecure nerd, as he gets caught up in the digital “manosphere” and eventually devolves into a misogynistic pseudo intellectual

2. You’re watching the origin story of a villain rather than a superhero, and the topic feels salient amidst the ongoing culture wars

3. While Erik developed through the show, too often Twinn’s portrayal felt one dimensional, as he repeatedly hit the same panicky/anxiety-filled notes

Verdict: A promising premise and script

1. In Girlhood 3 women at 3 different New Year’s Eve parties find themselves reflecting on what it means to be a mother.

2. This is the best show I’ve seen at Fringe in a long time; the writing, choreography, and acting are all excellent.

3. Girlhood may be the breakout show this year, and @livh011 delivers a profoundly moving monologue as Nancy.

Verdict: This is genius. Don't miss it.
