unfortunately for #them, ronaldo has made too much of a mark in the lives of fans and professionals for him to be erased so easily from his place in history.
🚨 OFFICIAL: Real Madrid statement deny any agreement on personal terms with Michael Olise, pointing at relationship with FC Bayern.
“In response to reports in various media outlets regarding an alleged interest from our club in Bayern Munich player Michael Olise, Real Madrid CF wishes to state that it has not had any direct or indirect contact with the aforementioned player, his representatives, or anyone in his entourage.
Real Madrid also wishes to highlight the excellent institutional relationship it maintains with Bayern Munich, with whom it shares a long history of mutual respect, collaboration and admiration, and regrets the spread of speculation that does not correspond to reality.
Both clubs have always maintained a relationship based on trust and mutual respect, which is reflected, among other aspects, in the shared conviction that any potential interest in a player belonging to the other club must be dealt with first between the entities themselves, in accordance with the principles of institutional loyalty that have historically governed the relations between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid”.
🚨𝗗𝗜𝗗 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗞𝗡𝗢𝗪: It's been 16 games at the World Cup so far, and not a single stadium has been used twice. 😳🏟️
Looks like everyone underestimated the scale of the USA. 🇺🇸
Commentator: I think Japan thinks they're taller than they really are, because whenever they get a corner kick, they kick it high and the Dutch, who are taller obviously headbutt it away
*2 minutes later*
Japan shoots another corner kick, teammate jumps and actually headbutts it into the net
Equalizing the score (2-2)
Commentator: I owe an apology to Japan
I think looking at these signings, it’s easier to point out what Mourinho is trying to do. The signings are defensive-minded, and if you have two of the best attackers in the world, it’s probably better to let them focus more on scoring than defending. It’s also how he was able to achieve 121 goals in a season with the likes of Ronaldo.
What made that team so devastating wasn’t just the attack, it was the balance. The defensive structure behind them allowed the forwards to stay high, attack space quickly, and conserve energy for decisive moments. Looking at players like Dumfries, Konaté and Cucurella, there seems to be a clear emphasis on athleticism, defensive security, recovery pace and winning duels.
If Mourinho is indeed building along those lines, the idea could be simple, create a team that is harder to play through, wins the ball back faster, and then releases its world-class attackers in transition. Modern football is obsessed with possession, but Mourinho has always valued control through organisation, compactness and efficiency.
The speed of these deals also suggests the club has a very clear profile of player it wants. Rather than signing stars for the sake of it, they appear to be targeting players that fit a specific tactical identity. If that continues, Madrid could become one of the most physically dominant and defensively solid teams in Europe while still having enough firepower to outscore anyone. Good times ahead honestly.
🚨 @FabrizioRomano: "Real Madrid's transfer strategy this summer is to CLOSE DEALS VERY FAST.
Denzel Dumfries, they got him in 24 hours.
Ibrahima Konaté, they got him very fast.
Bernardo Silva, the deal was sealed in 36 hours.
And now, Marc Cucurella, out of NOWHERE.
Real Madrid are going VERY STRONG in the market."
🚨 Kylian Mbappé: "I have to STEP UP DEFENSIVELY.
It's IMPORTANT for the team, and I HAVE to do it.
It will start in THIS World Cup, because we want to WIN it."
🗣️Mesut Özil: “I choose Real Madrid because of José MOURINHO. I don’t know if this is known, but I visited Madrid and Barcelona at that time and the difference was José Mourinho. Mou gave me a VIP visit to Real Madrid. He took me to see the stadium and all the trophies they had won. That gave me goosebumps. He was so convincing. So heartfelt, trying so hard. He was the complete opposite of the Barca coach. The visit in Barcelona was less enthusiastic and what was more disappointing is that Pep Guardiola didn’t bother to meet me. Before that trip I really liked Barcelona’s style of football and I could really imagine playing with them, but Madrid went all out. So José Mourinho was without a doubt the most important factor in my decision. After my visits, my decision was one hundred percent clear: I wanted to be a Madridista.
“Everyone already knows my anecdote in the locker room with him [laughs]. But still we have had a great relationship. He always knew how to motivate me, how to make me a better player every day. He is an incredible coach and I am very proud to have been able to play for him.”
“I was very sad when I left Madrid. I had a great time for three years at Real Madrid and in this city. I was really happy. But things happened. Suddenly, at the beginning of that season, I no longer had many playing minutes and a conflict arose between Mr. Florentino Pérez and my father and agent. We had to look for a new club. It was hard for me. The moment the plane took off, tears fell from my eyes. That was the moment I realized it was over.”
