MY STANDARD COUNTER-META / OFF-META DECKS FOR CATACLYSM (week 1 - Patch 36.2.2)
Herald BBU Death Knight
The sad story of a cool and good archetype on a class thats suffering of bad card pool since March. But MATES I'VE DONE SOME NICE PROGRESS HERE.
I've played so many game with multiple variants of this deck, trying always to fit the horrible card pool into a combination that may make this viable. I THINK I'VE REACHED IT, FELLAS. Since Maiev Paladin's death, this deck became better by fitting more cards that bring better balance between the multiple directions of its structure.
This recipe is more focused on Tempo clears (with poison, Corpse generating/spending and leeches) while you grind your Onyxia to 4 Herald Stacks. Before you ask: Pyromancer + Poison ain't good on the class' actual state, as it slows the deck even more than it already is known for being.
Give this a try and you may get surprised with it performance over everyone's expectations!
Quick Guide:
- This deck is kinda tough to get used to. Be patient and train it before trying to climb with it (Don't forget its a bad archetype). After understanding the behaviour, you then are allowed to expect winning multiple games.
- Prioritize your Mulligan on Obsessive Technician, Infested Breath, Doomsayer, Hematurge, Whelp of the Infinite and Emergency Surgery.
- As situational mulligans, you can keep Army of the Dead and Experimental Animation (against Aggro) ; or, against Controls/Midrange, you can keep Envoy of the End, Sanguine Infestation and Blood Doctor Thael'na.
- As a common thing for Control Decks, early board clearing and Tempo maintenance are essential to reach the point you need to overtake your opponent.
- For card generation, try to prioritize getting Herald Cards from the Discover pools, as this helps to fit the archetype's problem of being too slow when comparing to every other Herald class.
- Be wise enough to don't distract yourself with Onyxias on the Discover pools. You gotta be very secure about your game if you're willing getting them on those situations. I know it's kinda frustrating, but you gotta play with what you have: a very bad state of Death Knight cards.
- I Focus your first 5 turns on keeping Board Control and playing the Herald minions. This will give you a nice ammount of corpses, which will be needed to clear boards with Army of the Dead and Thael'Na's Hero Power.
- SAVE YOUR POISON BREATH FOR CRUCIAL MOMENTS. Don't spend it if u have other alternatives of board clear. The class' actual state is good for clearing small minions, but really limited on clearing big minions (which are common on this Herald/Shellos/Big meta)
- Remnant of Rage is very convenient and Tempo friendly when played after Army of the Dead, Emergency Surgery, Experimental Animation and Doomsayer's triggering.

MY STANDARD COUNTER-META / OFF-META DECKS FOR CATACLYSM (week 1 - Patch 36.2.2)
Midrange Pure Dude Paladin
I'm glad i'm having fun with this deck as i usually love bad dacks but THIS THING HERE is rlly fkin OP
Its a midrange alternative for Bruiser Paladin that consists in card generation that ALWAYS gives convenient cards. This deck's card selection was designed to turn EVERY randomly generated card into a great option to fit your turns
This deck doesnt have a single problem to face on this meta, so take a try and impress yourself with how consistent it is. You genuinelly just lose when you're unlucky, which is a statement that works for any deck in Hearthstone
It's really strong against Azalina Priest (for a while), as they won't have any sinergies with your cards they steal.
Fellas i think i've crafted a masterpiece...
Quick Guide:
- Prioritize your Mulligan on Scarlet Bruiser, Reinforcement Aura, Spearheart Sentry, Vigilant Sentry and both Dude buffing 2 and 3 drops. Avoid keeping Convalescence, as it better functions here for Tempo maintenance or as a complement to Nozdormu and Arator
- Card Generation and Board Controling are your win conditions. Don't try to win fast as an Aggro deck, but do it as a Midrange player that understands your win will come from your low-cost generated cards. Focus your first 5 turns on keeping Board Control while you try to generate as many cards as possible (specially by dropping Scarlet Bruisers). On turn 6 you'll probably be able to do multiple things at once.
- Focus your mindset for Dudes as a 'plan B' thing, where they will function as a high rewarding takeover
- Explore the idea of using Arator as an OTK, saving it to double dudes' stats when they'll give you lethal. You surely can also use it for Tempo, if really needed.

@AqwClass Can u please check for adding the Underworld/Timeless Chronomancer Hourglasses to the last consumable rule update?
I mean about making the Hourglasses effects still keep running when u switch class or die
Its rlly rough having to consume it everytime death
specially on Ultras
Just won 7 following games as Herald DeathKnight wtf
(Ill be posting the deck here later)
I confess this impresses me af since Death Knight is full of horrible cards in Standard rn, so im trying to find a way to circle around the meta and win with this questionable thing.
The main problems Blood DK are facing now:
- Lack of midgame Body minions (literally limited to the 2 Herald options)
- Lack of board clear, since there’s no way to destroy boards with single good board clears (Pyro+Poison is just bad, fellas… Its a bad sinergy to its limited card drawing state rn). We’re limited to using multiple tempo clearing cards, behaving like a Demon Hunter (???).
Anyways, this is my favorite archetype since From de Other Side Shaman, surely. Im trying to craft good decks for this since its launched (posted some of them here), and this one actually seems to really fit in the actual meta.
If i reach legend with this, its gonna be an insane peak thing

Heyyy
I understand that too, but as you’re playing a deck with lots of mana cheating, u usually have space to play it together with other cards
But i do understand it may be tough to play it lonely, as u may lose tempo sometimes
I like it there as it can be well played with Story of Galvadon, but i may try it without it too
