@dancantstream Not sure about this one - ISIS used to control big chunks of land in Iraq and Syria and numbered about 100,000. Then Amercia went in and lit them up, and now they control no land and number about 12,000. Why aren't there hundreds of thousands of ISIS soldiers now?
@alltomdoden@UkrainianAna I can't read Owen Jones' mind, but the practical effect of his words is that it creates a false equivalence that hurts Ukraine, which should be avoided.
However, we can consider the fact that even after he was warned that he was hurting Ukraine, he kept doing it.
@OnniPaananen@alltomdoden@UkrainianAna See? Like I said, it's messy. That's why you had to put "aspects were wrong, but". The fullscale invasion of Ukraine by Russia is not morally messy and should not be compared to the Middle East conflict.
@alltomdoden@UkrainianAna Yes. He repeatedly conflates a very clear-cut good vs evil conflict (Russia/Ukraine) with a very messy one in which the "good" side actually began this chapter of the conflict by massacring civilians. This creates a false equivalence, to the detriment of Ukraine.
@BethRigby Is this going to be a thing, Beth? Every time Starmer does something progressive, you're going to signal boost an irrelevant Corbyn going "But why didn't he do it MORE and FASTER?? ๐ก๐ก๐ก"
@ContraPoints It's not as restrictive as it sounds - in the UK, wherever there are mens and womens toilets there are also, by law, non-gendered accessible toilets that anyone can use if they need to.
NEW: GOP Rep Mo Brooks says prime committee chairmanships cost a minimum of $1 million and are paid by special interest groups as "a quid pro quo" for favored legislation

@KingRichieLion@SquidGaming I saw it brought up as "can we congratulate Lydia on her announcement", it was done with positive intent. Perhaps there's been some negativity too? I've not seen it.
@RichardJMurphy@wesstreeting@UKLabour I do not think that taking GPs out of the private sector and making them NHS employees is consistent with ending the NHS.
@alexphughes The Crown Estates did not belong to the Queen personally and were not inherited by King Charles personally either. Do we actually know how much, if anything, he personally inherited?
