CLT's are campaigning to improve legislation, to demand that developers maximise affordable housing. Under the Mendip Local Plan, 30% of all new homes in a development of ten homes or more must be affordable. We believe it should be 40%, of which 80% is social housing.
Governments have failed to address the need for social housing even though the UK is bound to recognise the right to safe and adequate housing. There is urgent need for this across the country, especially for those who seek refuge from persecution here.
