@beefdogcoffee I usually leave a set of brackets like (thing will happen here) then write the thing I already have planned. I've found it's easier to write that scene once I have the next bit fully fleshed out
@eternaltxts Salsa counts as a vegetable. Don't keep onions and potatoes together, they'll sprout faster that way. A good pillow is always worth the investment. Keep extra socks in your car if you drive. Don't take your shoes off or sit down when you get home until you do the thing.
One of the most obnoxious things about trying to write the next chapter of this fic is that I have to keep re-writing dialogue because it's very Plot Important that nobody ever says the word "sorry" to Holmes due to because I have THINGS planned
@221Bbees If you've not read them, Ohlooktheresabee has a TON of fics in the BBC universe, as well as a few in Canon, and every single one is incredible
The random accusations of ai on work that is obviously not written by ai is insane to me (though obviously yes some of it is ai)
I at least know that mine ain't ever getting that bc I write poorly and constantly miss typos for the true human experience (/j)
“I won’t start ongoing fics, what if they won’t get finished” jokes on you I live to obsessively think about what happens in the next chapter then be wrong, or making lists of possible scenarios, and dying of waiting with excitement even if it takes years or never
Fanfic writing advice on here lately is like: fanfic writers need to read more books. But not so many that you don't update your WIPs regularly. And make sure you're not over 30 years old. And I should be able to tell you that your writing sucks in a public bookmark.
Me: writing a VicLock story about trauma and reconciliation and self esteem issues
Also me, writes 16k words before Victor even shows up and then gets distracted writing Sherlock being excellent with kids who are prone to being assholes
