Apple buds are starting to waken from dormancy, so I thought it might be a good time to re-post my photo-series showing the growth and development of a single 'Herefordshire Russet':

People seemed to like the pear collage. So thought I'd add these.
These are 31 of our 153 varieties of apples. I had plans to take a photo of every single one, but it's hard to keep on top of thst in the height of the season. I'll try again next year.
Rising temperatures are causing #bees to emerge earlier, but what about blossom of the fruit trees they pollinate? Thats what we are hoping to find out thanks to your blossom submissions at https://t.co/dXaWeqR9wP! Stay tuned to see what we find! 🐝🌸🍏🍐
So, @Fruit_Watch, @ChrisWyver33 my apples 🍎 seem ahead on the flowering 🌸than my edible cherry🍒 Though cherry tree has had more leaves than flowers this year. Wonder what's going on with their #phenology 🤔 #citizenscientists please add your records to https://t.co/3l0piws0SH
Got very excited about 1st flowers open on my apple tree so entered it in @Fruit_Watch (PhD Project of @ChrisWyver33) Looking at results seems to be only apple flowering in eastern England! Come on, that surely can't be true. Join in if you can!

Calling all nature lovers. Have you heard of citizen science projects? It’s where members of the public help conservation organisations collect data to help monitor and protect wildlife.
@Fruit_Watch wants to track flowering dates of fruit trees across the UK. If you see an apple, pear, cherry or plum tree in bloom, upload a record to https://t.co/Xprdu12vcv to help understand how climate impacts blossom.
🎉We're Back!! 🎉After working hard to ensure https://t.co/0Vc56oUibP runs smoothly, we are now ready to accept submissions! If you see an apple, pear, cherry or plum tree in blossom, upload a record to https://t.co/dXaWeqR9wP and help us understand how climate impacts blossom 🌸
@Suz_Waller Hi Suz! Thanks for sharing this - we will definitely be running the project again next year as we've had such a great response. Will also look into keeping the submission page open longer to capture trees like yours!
@HeldinEU@Oracle_UKI@UniofReading@guardian We started accepting blossom records from Feb this year, and plan on doing the same next year! You can take a look at the records so far at https://t.co/tvBu1apOSq.🍎
The area occupied by fruit trees has fallen by 97 per cent in London and by half UK-wide since 1900. But @ProjectOrchard is on a mission to bring nature's food banks back to our cities:
