美国宪法里，democracy 这个词出现了 0 次。

独立宣言里，也是 0 次。

连 50 个州宪法，也没有靠 democracy 这个词来定义政府形式。

很多人天天把美国说成 democracy，可宪法第四条第四款写的是另一套东西。

美国要保障每一个州拥有 Republican Form of Government。

共和形式的政府。

一个词的差别，背后是权力边界的差别。

富兰克林走出制宪会议时，有人问他：
先生，你们给了我们什么？

他回答：
一个共和国，女士，如果你们能守住它。

真正扎人的地方，是后半句。

共和国不会自动续费。

它要靠一代代人守住法律、权利和权力边界。

democracy 来自希腊语 demos 和 kratein。

demos 是人民。

kratein 是统治。

合起来，就是人民统治。

听起来漂亮。

落到政治操作里，就是多数统治。

问题来了。

如果超过一半的人被说服，要拿走一个人的房子、企业、财产，票数够了就能拿吗？

建国者最警惕的，正是这个漏洞。

他们读过希腊城邦的历史。

他们知道多数人一旦脱离法律约束，热情会滑向暴民统治。

暴民统治之后，是无政府状态。

再往后，寡头出来接管残局。

詹姆斯·麦迪逊在《联邦党人文集》第十篇里讲过。

民主常常伴随动荡和争斗。

它和个人安全、财产权很难相容。

它的寿命通常短，结局通常伴随暴力。

汉密尔顿也没有绕弯子。

他说，美国是共和政府。

真正的自由，从不在专制里，也不在民主的极端里。

塞缪尔·亚当斯的判断更干脆。

民主不会长久。

它会耗尽自己，枯竭自己，然后谋杀自己。

共和国的核心，是法律限制政府。

政府的正当角色，是保护人的权利。

当政府权力增长，人的自由就后退。

这也是为什么那套政治光谱值得重新看。

一端是无政府，政府权力为 0。

另一端是全能政府，政府权力逼近 100%。

共产主义、社会主义、纳粹主义、法西斯主义、独裁者、国王、寡头，名字不同，终点都是权力集中。

美国宪法站在中间。

它承认政府必要。

也给政府上锁。

建国者当年有一张白纸。

他们可以搞寡头。

也有人真想让华盛顿当国王。

他们最后选择了共和国里的法治。

让法律压住多数人的冲动。

也压住掌权者的野心。

所以，当政客反复把美国说成 democracy，真正值得盯住的是那道刹车。

多数情绪能不能越过法律边界。

掌权者愿不愿继续受宪法约束。

富兰克林那句“如果你们能守住它”，到现在还没有过期。

@aave ETH on AAVE Arbitrum pool is still frozen. Since Arbitrum foundation already recovered the stolen ETH and can fully cover the loss of Arbitrum ETH pool. Please unfreeze the pool ASAP! It affect many retail supplier’s daily life!

Appeasement noise at its worst, again coming from Foreign Affairs.
1. Why so obsessed with "stabilizing" a fundamentally unstabilizeable "relationship," proven so since the 1950s?
2. Why not state the most obvious: the primary source of instability in the U.S.-China relationship is Beijing, not Washington or Taipei. To make it work, China needs to change, not Washington, not Taiwan;
3. Taiwan is not “the most dangerous dimension" in the U.S.-China relatinship. Only the CCP is saying so, just like Hitler in the 1930s bamboozled Britain and France into believing the Sudetenland was the most dangerous dimension in all of Germany's historical and ideological grievances. Similarly, China would not stop at taking Taiwan; other dangerous dimensions will involve the Philippines, Japan, India, even Vietnam and beyond;
4. The best place to begin is to deter China's aggression with U.S. strength, forcing China to abandon its militant ideology, to be at peace with its neighbors, with the world, and ultimately with the Chinese people.

Taiwan just held their election.

They require photo ID and use paper ballots. They hand-count the votes of each station one by one, in public view. There are no mail ballots.

It’s all done in 6 hours.

美国如果总是说一套做一套，大国的信誉何在？
--因为美国的那一套是国际准则，你的那一套是孤芳自赏，一厢情愿，所以贵国信誉早已丢尽，国际上孤家寡人，成为风险之地，战乱之源，国内则早已人人思润，万众躺平。信誉与贵国无缘接轨。

美国如果一听到“中国”这两个字就紧张焦虑，大国的自信何在？
--美国, 全世界，和中国人民听到“中国”两个字很欣慰，听到“中共”两个字很紧张焦虑，因为中共是自由的敌人。为什么中共一听到代表自由民主的“美国”两个字就紧张焦虑，伟光正的贵党的自信何在？

美国如果只让自己保持繁荣，不允许别国正当发展，国际公理何在？
--因为中共的发展不"正当,“ 与国际公理相悖。

美国如果执意垄断价值链高端，只让中国停留在低端，公平竞争何在？
--因为中共利用国际公平竞争的机制破坏公平竞争原则，危及全球自由贸易系统。不仅美国警惕，全球市场经济体制都在积极阻止中共反市场的行为和政策。
