Boris Johnson, "We wrote something called the Balfour Declaration"
"Which is a classic example of selling the same camel twice"
"To the Palestinians and the Jewish people"
"It says: His Majesty's government views with favour the establishment in Palestine a homeland for the Jews, it being understood that nothing should be done to prejudice the rights of the existing Palestinian population"
"The first half of the sentence everybody remembers fondly"
"And the second half of the sentence, was never enacted"
the dap, the tucking the rod under the armpit followed by subtle upwards nod. taking the biggest notes and dropping the change into the lap. this is a man in peak form
What struck me in this photo is that there’s a street named after Count Bernadotte: he was a Swedish diplomat who saved 31,000 from Nazi concentration camps, became the UN’s first mediator in Palestine, backed the Palestinian right of return and then in 1948 was assassinated in Jerusalem by the Zionist Stern Gang.
