🚨 MASSIVE NCAA ELIGIBILITY RESTRUCTURING APPROVED 🚨
The NCAA Division I Cabinet has unanimously approved a major shift to an age-based eligibility model, fundamentally changing how long athletes can compete in college sports:
● 5 Years of Competition: Division I athletes will now be allowed up to five years of competition, replacing the long-standing model of four seasons within five years. Traditional redshirts and eligibility waivers will be eliminated.
● The Age Clock: An athlete's eligibility clock will begin when they first enroll in college or at the start of the academic year following their 19th birthday, whichever comes first. The move is designed to limit athletes competing deep into their mid-20s through additional waivers and eligibility extensions.
● The Catch: The rule is expected to apply to athletes with eligibility remaining after the 2025–26 academic year. Athletes who completed their fourth season of competition this spring are not expected to benefit from the change.
The decision is expected to face immediate legal challenges, with multiple lawsuits reportedly being prepared on behalf of athletes seeking an additional year of eligibility.
