Hey @MikeRogersForMI - clearly your teammates didn’t vote you captain. If they did, you would have said it in the ad. Probably had that beta energy back then, too.
I *was* captain. Football. Wrestling. Lacrosse.
(Thanks for repping my school, tho 😉)
.@JamesTalarico: This issue of healthcare is so personal to me. When I was a perfectly healthy 28-year-old running for the Texas House, I got diagnosed with a shocking illness.
I was a Democrat running in a Trump district, and so I had to do things a little differently, and at one point I decided to walk the entire length of my district — 25 miles — in the Texas heat.
About halfway through, I started to feel fatigued and nauseous. I ended up throwing up a few times along the walk.
I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. I went to Walgreens to pick up my first 30-day supply of insulin — it cost me $684. I didn't have that kind of money, so I put it on a credit card, and I soon learned that Texans with diabetes across the state were rationing or skipping doses. Some of them were dying because of it.
And so when I won that seat, I brought Democrats and Republicans together to take on Big Pharma, and we capped insulin copays in Texas at $25 per prescription.
I want to start a cat cafe with only naughty cats. Customers shall be fighting for their lives to keep their food on their plates. I want them to have to keep their hands hovering over their glasses of water. I want their meal to have a challenge to it
Abdul El-Sayed: “To be anti-Israel is not the same as to be anti-Jewish. We have a responsibility to stand up and remind folks that Judaism and the Jewish people are a light unto the world, that my commitment to Jewish safety is the same as my commitment to my own daughter’s safety. I know what it’s like to be discriminated against for how I pray. But I do reject the idea that somehow criticizing Israel and Israel’s actions and a genocide that was perpetrated by our tax dollars is the same as the idea of rejecting anybody for their faith or their identity”
Katy Tur: The president has called you a jihadist. They are going after your faith.
El-Sayed: If there is any jihad it's gonna be the one against medical debt. The average American is not as worried about how I pray. They are worried about what I pray for.
An investigation found a Florida "Deputy of the Year":
—Used Flock cameras to stalk his ex girlfriend
—Held a police-issued gun in his ex girlfriend's mouth
—Posed for pictures dressed as Hitler
—Frequently used racial slurs in texts
I keep a picture of my wife at 7 years old in my car. It started as a joke, but over time, it became a reminder before she was my wife, before she was a mom, she was just a little girl. A little girl who deserved patience, grace, and love. She still does. We all do.
🚨BREAKING: A masked ICE agent was caught on a surveillance camera trespassing through private backyards, with his taser drawn, in Pompano Beach, Florida.
In the video, the masked agent can be seen walking through private backyards, searching each property’s patio, with his taser drawn… before walking away.
And we need to stop normalizing this.
The Fourth Amendment protects people against unreasonable searches and seizures, and requires the government to have a warrant, consent, or a recognized exception before entering private property to conduct a search.
Your backyard is still your private property.
Your constitutional rights don’t disappear because the person walking onto your property is wearing a badge.
And somehow, we’re being conditioned to see this as normal.
IT IS NOT NORMAL.
It should not be normal.
Because if the government can just walk onto your private property, with weapons drawn, and expect you to accept it… we’re not talking about immigration enforcement anymore.
We’re talking about a government that is no longer respecting the constitutional rights of the people it’s supposed to be protecting.
Opinion | "Abbott blames the Democrats, despite the fact that he has been governor for 11 years and has had the full support of a majority of Republicans in the Legislature," writes Robert L. Fischer. https://t.co/Y3pftnTEQP
