You do good work. Your customers know it. Your crew knows it. But outside that circle, nobody has heard of you.
That's the quiet problem that kills a lot of great contracting businesses. You're not bad at what you do. You're just invisible. And invisible companies don't get called.
You're not showing up when people search your trade. You're not getting referrals from people who've never met you. You're grinding through slow seasons wondering why your phone isn't ringing, while some other outfit with a flashier truck gets the call instead.
Here's the thing: visibility isn't just about having a website. It's about being talked about. And one of the oldest, most overlooked tools for getting talked about is the press release.

How to Stop Depending on Angi and HomeAdvisor (And Own Your Leads)
Angi and HomeAdvisor feel like a shortcut. You pay, the phone rings, and you tell yourself that is marketing handled. Until you add up what you actually spent per booked job, and realize you do not own the customer, the platform does.
Lead brokers are not evil. They are a tool. But for most local contractors, staying dependent on them is the single biggest reason margins stay thin and growth stays stuck. Here is how to start owning your pipeline instead of renting it.

Just finished Enrich & Pitch, a desktop-first sales operations tool for local #B2B outbound. The app discovers businesses via #GooglePlaces and enrichment providers, merges contact data into an encrypted local database, generates personalized outreach with Claude, and runs #SMTP-based campaigns with scheduled follow-ups and reply-based opt-out detection. It can perform domain health checks like #MXToolBox & log API usage / costs. Built the full stack solo using #Cursor, #Docker, #Claude & #Composer Ai's: monolithic Dash UI, ~15k lines of #Python, third-party API orchestration, and #macOS installer packaging. GUI via #Python/Dash (#Plotly) web UI with #Bootstrap components; packaged as a desktop app via #PyWebView.

I built a brochure for my church, old school Adobe print design. I had not not attempted any print builds in a very long time. It's interesting to work a project that is decided by committee, only a few of my design ideas made the final cut. You have to be willing to go with the flow, to use a cliche. Most of the work is positioning, re-arranging & layering, very different from wed development. I am currently working on a video about our new iconography project.
