Alignment is a crucial element of putting that often gets overlooked.

In addition to the driver shaft change last week in Fort Worth, Hideki Matsuyama has been gaming a new Sirxon ZXi prototype 5-wood.
This thing has a serious Darth Vader look from the sole and then a very bright silver face, something we've seen that Hideki prefers with his driver.
Seems like this spells the end for his Cobra Rad Speed 5-wood.
He also started playing a new unique Scotty Cameron GSS Newport 2 with a flow neck moved closer to the center.
Rory McIlroy is making a slight tweak to his driver setup, going to a heavier Fujikura Ventus Black OG 7-X shaft, up from the 6-X he's used this year.
Caddie Harry Diamond told me he was seeing a bit extra stability out of the heavier build.
Also looks like he's gone heavier with the weight setup with 13s now in the back instead of 11s.
Played with it in the pro-am this morning, but will confirm if he puts the new build in play tomorrow.
When there’s so many shafts to choose from, where do you start?
It’s all about impact location.
@MadeForTheRange explains with the @MitsubishiGolf lineup.
Three weeks before defending his U.S. Open title, J.J. Spaun has a new putter.
The L.A.B. DF3 that helped him become the first major winner with a "zero-torque" style putter is out. A heel-shafted OZ.1i HS is in.

• Ludvig Åberg joins the growing list of players moving from a blade into a compact mallet

Huge putter change for J.J. Spaun just three weeks before he's set to defend his first major title.
Spaun has benched the L.A.B. Golf DF3 for a new OZ.1i HS this week which has both a completely different look and feel off the face.
Despite winning earlier this season at the Valero Texas Open, Spaun is losing more than half stroke to the field on the greens this season, 155th on Tour.
But, I spoke to L.A.B. co-founder Sam Hahn who said this change actually had more to do with alignment than anything.
Spaun's DF3 was platinum colored and in the year and a half that he's been using it, it's begun to fade, especially in the Arizona son that Spaun practices in. It had gotten to the point where Spaun sometimes couldn't see the alignment line.
L.A.B.'s Liam Bedford worked with Spaun last week in Arizona to find a new gamer and the OZ.1i HS, L.A.B.'s first ever heel-shafted design, won out decisively.
“Despite the fact that the face rotation and all that stuff was on par with his DF3, he just loved the way it looked and had confidence setting up with it and knew where he was looking," Hahn said.
Hahn pointed out that the advantage L.A.B. has is that all of its putter have the same torque profile. So it was really just finding a visual Spaun liked because the performance would match.
The OZ.1i HS also has a firmer steel insert than the grooved aluminum face on his DF3, but Spaun tested that insert earlier this year in a DF3i, ironically the week he won at Valero.
He did make one spec change, now going to a putter with 0 shaft lean, compared to the 2˚ on his previous gamer.
"After the U.S. Open last year, there was kind of a gentle decline in some of his stats and then this year more of the same," Hahn said. "So you build up some — I don’t want to say scar tissue — but just a bunch of thoughts and ideas about what’s going on, and then you put a new putter in play and it just kind of wipes the slate clean."
Thru 13 holes in Round 2 at Colonial, Spaun leads by 2 shots and is gaining 2 shots on the field with the new putter.
Specs:
Length: 34”
Lie: 70˚
Sheaf lean: 0˚
Alignment aid: A2 (squared off)
Swingweight: E4
Total weight: 574g
Shaft: L.A.B x TPT
Grip: Golf Pride red star cord
In more Scotty Cameron news, Ludvig Aberg has joined the mallet gang!
Looks like he's got a new and unreleased Phantom 3.2. Definitely has the chain link milling on the face, but not 100% sure it's the Studio Carbon Steel insert. Would guess that it is since he's coming form a softer feeling Odyssey Ai-One insert.
Aberg has been toying with different lofts on his Ai-One #1 all season, but he also tested some Phantom 3s earlier this year.
Thru 14 holes in Round 1, Aberg is -2 for the day and +1.7 SG: Putting, which is 19th in the field. Improvement from the .059 he has put up so far this season.
Ryan Gerard also switched back to the head shape this week and shares the early lead after a 64. Would have to think this type of mallet has a forward CG that is going to appeal to many blade users.

Winner picked Monday!
Brooks Koepka is searching again on the greens.
Koepka showed up at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson with a Scotty Cameron Fastback 1.5, marking his FOURTH different putter setup already this season, and it immediately paid off with one of his best putting rounds of the year Thursday.
Even though the results cooled a bit Friday, the reasoning behind the switch was interesting. Koepka said he wanted something that released more naturally and felt closer to the Newport-style blades he’s spent most of his career using.
At the same time, Taylor Moore grabbed the early lead after changing both his driver and putter setups this week, including a driver tweak that happened because he’s simply gotten faster as the season’s gone on.
