PRESS RELEASE
Kuki Civic Action Committee (KCAC) Condemns Continuing Aggressions Against Kuki Villages and Ancestral Lands
The Kuki Civic Action Committee (KCAC) strongly condemns the continuing aggressions, intimidation, and attacks against Kuki villages and ancestral lands allegedly carried out by NSCN-IM and the Kamson group. These repeated incidents have created fear and insecurity among vulnerable Kuki communities and threaten peace and stability in the affected areas.
For years, Kuki-inhabited areas have faced repeated provocations, coercion, and encroachment. The latest attacks on fringe Kuki villages in the Twilang area along the Imphal–Tamenglong Road are not isolated incidents but part of a disturbing pattern that endangers the existence, security, and dignity of Kuki settlements.
KCAC expresses deep concern over the continued targeting of innocent civilians, destruction of livelihoods, and attempts to dispossess Kuki communities of their ancestral lands. Such actions are unacceptable and must be condemned by all peace-loving people.
The Committee calls for the immediate cessation of all forms of aggression, intimidation, encroachment, and violence against Kuki villages and territories. Attacks on civilians and attempts to terrorize Kuki communities must stop immediately.
KCAC further urges the Government of India and the Government of Manipur to take urgent and decisive measures to ensure the protection of vulnerable Kuki villages, prevent further violence, and uphold the rule of law. Failure to act will only embolden those responsible for destabilizing the region and undermining peaceful coexistence.
KCAC stands firmly with the people of Twilang and all affected Kuki villages. The Committee reaffirms its commitment to defending the rights, dignity, security, and ancestral lands of the Kuki people through democratic and peaceful means and calls upon all democratic forces to condemn these continuing acts of aggression in the strongest possible terms.

Fresh Attack Reported in Lasan-Langka Area
Lasan, Tamenglong District, June 13: A fresh attack was reported in the Lasan-Langka Kuki-inhabited area this morning at around 8:40 AM. According to local sources, armed cadres of the NSCN-IM, in collaboration with the ZUF(K), carried out a coordinated assault in the area.
The incident comes just three days after the killing of Pu Haogin of Lasan Village, which local residents have also attributed to the same groups.
Sources further stated that, weeks earlier, the Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur had overseen the deployment of additional security personnel in several vulnerable Kacha Naga villages in the region. However, Kuki civil society organizations have alleged that repeated appeals for similar security deployment in Kuki villages were not acted upon.
Lasan Village is located near Tamei headquarters, an area where the Tangkhul-led NSCN-IM is reported to maintain a significant presence.
Local organizations claim that repeated attacks targeting Kuki villages in the region have resulted in the deaths of 13 Kuki civilians since February this year. They have renewed calls for stronger security measures and immediate intervention to prevent further violence.

The Kuki Community expresses serious concern over a social media post allegedly made by an individual claiming association with a COBRA Battalion deployed in Manipur. The statement, which is being widely circulated, is perceived as a direct threat against Kuki civilians at a time when peace and public confidence are critically needed.
If the individual is indeed a serving member of a Central Force, such remarks raise serious questions regarding neutrality, professionalism, and the constitutional duty to protect all citizens without bias. Security forces deployed in conflict-affected areas must remain impartial and must not engage in any form of communal or inflammatory rhetoric.
The Kuki Community therefore urges the CRPF, Assam Rifles, and concerned authorities to immediately verify the authenticity of the post, identify the individual responsible, and take appropriate action if any service rules or laws have been violated.
We call upon the Government of India and security agencies to ensure that all Central Forces operating in Manipur continue to uphold the principles of fairness, neutrality, and equal protection for every civilian. Any statement that appears to target a particular community threatens public trust and risks further aggravating an already sensitive situation.
The Kuki Community remains committed to peace and welcomes the presence of Central Forces for the protection of innocent civilians and the restoration of normalcy. We urge the authorities to address this matter transparently and take necessary measures to reassure the public that security operations will remain professional, impartial, and accountable.

The Kuki Community strongly condemns the blocking of Central Forces' movement by Tangkhul, Liangmai, and Meitei communities in Liangmai areas.
The Kuki Community would like to clarify that Tangkhul women, Liangmai women, and Meitei Meira Paibis are blocking Central Forces in order to enable the burning of our ancestral villages and the killing of innocent Kuki civilians again by their respective militants, namely NSCN Eastern Flank, NSCN-IM, ZUF Kamson Group, and Arambai Tenggol Myanmar Meitei Militants.
These militant groups are being backed by Manipur Police, as the Manipur Police have clearly sided with the majority Meitei community, Tangkhul, and Liangmai groups.
The Kuki Community demands that full-scale operations be conducted in Ukhrul District, Senapati District, and Liangmai areas. If such operations are not carried out, the Kuki Community will no longer trust the Central Forces.

APPEAL FOR THE SAFE RELEASE OF MISSING KUKI CIVILIANS
The Kuki community makes an emotional and urgent appeal for the immediate and safe release of the innocent Kuki civilians who are reportedly being held captive. These individuals are fathers, sons, brothers, students, and hardworking members of their families and communities.
Their families are living in unbearable pain and uncertainty. Every day without news of their loved ones brings fear, sorrow, and suffering. Mothers are crying for their children, wives are waiting for their husbands, and children are longing to see their fathers return home safely. Many families have lost their peace, their happiness, and even their appetite as they struggle with the agony of not knowing where their loved ones are or what condition they are in.
We humbly urge all concerned authorities and groups to show humanity and compassion. Innocent civilians should never be made to suffer. We appeal for their immediate release without any harm and for them to be reunited with their families as soon as possible.
The pain of the families grows heavier with each passing day. No family deserves to endure such suffering and uncertainty. We call upon responsible authorities to take urgent action to ensure the safe return of every missing civilian and to uphold justice, peace, and human dignity.
Release the innocent Kuki civilians. Let them return home to their families.

KSO-SH Condemns Attack on Kharam Vaiphei Village, Demands Accountability
Kangpokpi, June 01, 2026: The Kuki Students' Organisation Sadar Hills (KSO-SH) has strongly condemned the recent attack on Kharam Vaiphei village in Kangchup Geljang Sub-Division, alleging that the assault was carried out by NSCN-IM and its proxy Kamson faction.
In a press communique issued on Sunday, KSO-SH described the attack as deliberate and premeditated, claiming it exposed villagers to danger after security force operations drove village volunteers away from the area.
The organization further alleged that the incident reflects a pattern of repeated attacks on civilians, citing the recent killing of three church leaders between Kotjim and Kotlen.
KSO-SH also questioned the role of CRPF personnel present during the attack, alleging a lack of protective action and demanding an immediate investigation into the force's response.
The organization called for the arrest of those responsible and warned of democratic protests if justice is not delivered.
The student body reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the interests of the Kuki community and urged media organizations to verify facts before publishing reports.

How come the terrorists groups behind the CFs.
This prove that CFs battalion became a part of NSCN-IM terrorist.
SP of Kpi Govt of Manipur must answer this?
We urgently appeal for the immediate and safe release of innocent Kuki civilians who were reportedly captured while struggling daily to feed their families. Some of them are students with dreams and responsibilities toward their parents and loved ones. Till today, their family members continue to live in fear, pain, and uncertainty while reports claim that the captives are being threatened and physically assaulted.
Their mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, and relatives are crying day and night demanding the safe return of their loved ones. Many families cannot sleep peacefully, cannot eat properly, and are living in deep emotional suffering. No family deserves to experience such pain and helplessness. Innocent civilians and students must never become victims of violence, intimidation, or political conflict.
We sincerely request the Central Forces, High Authorities, investigative agencies, and security officials to immediately intervene and intensify search and rescue operations for the missing innocent Kuki civilians, especially in Ukhrul district, Senapati district, and Liangmai areas. We further appeal for strict monitoring and investigation in sensitive areas where militant activities and armed intimidation are repeatedly alleged by local civilians.
We appeal for justice, humanity, peace, and the protection of innocent lives before the situation worsens further. Every innocent civilian deserves safety, dignity, and the right to return home alive to their family members.

22 May 2026 | New Delhi l
Members of the Kuki community staged protests on 16 May 2026 at Jantar Mantar organised by Kuki Students' Organisation Delhi & NCR condemning the killing of Kuki Baptist pastors and demanding the immediate release of 14 hostages.
Community leaders stated that the peaceful demonstrations was held to draw attention to ongoing violence targeting the Kuki people and to appeal for justice.
However, social media users have flagged a deliberate misinformation campaign surrounding the protest. Original photographs from the Kuki protest show demonstrators holding placards reading “SDSA ENABLED THIS! Own Your Shame!” and “ILLEGAL DETENTION = CONSTITUTIONAL FAILURE!”.
Doctored versions of these images were circulated online by Tangkhul social media users, identified as W Chanchui and Atai Lunghar. Pushing false narratives that Kuki youths were acting against Nagas.
Kuki civil society organizations have condemned these edits as lies spread by Tangkhul users. “Tangkhuls, the elder brothers of the Meitei, are once again using lies and propaganda to mislead the public and malign the Kuki community,”
“Editing protest photos to flip the narrative is a shameful act and part of a larger pattern of misinformation.”
The groups have demanded that social media platforms take down the fake posts and called on the public to verify images before sharing. They reiterated that the Kuki protest was against the Killing of Three Kuki Pastors and illegal detentions.
Leaders urged authorities to investigate the source of the doctored images and hold those responsible for spreading lies accountable under IT and cybercrime laws.

History Cannot Be Changed: Tribals in Chittagong Hill Tracts, Northeast India, and Western Myanmar are Kukis
By: Ms. Kimneihoi Haokip
The Kuki people possess a rich and documented history that long predates British colonial rule. The name ‘Kuki’ appears in ancient texts, including the _Mahabharata_ and the _Tripura Rajmala_, with references dating back to the 6th and 7th centuries — centuries before the British arrived in India. In the 17th century, the British colonial administration formally recognized and recorded the tribals inhabiting the Chittagong Hill Tracts in present-day Bangladesh, Northeast India, and parts of western Myanmar as ‘Kuki’.
This recognition was not merely administrative. In 1904, British authorities drew a political map identifying the independent hill tracts of the community as the ‘Kuki Independent Hill Country’, or Kukiland. This historical mapping is central to understanding the Kuki identity and the community’s distinct territorial and political claims in the region. For the Kuki History & Identity Protection Committee, such records affirm a continuity of peoplehood and land that colonial policy acknowledged.
The post-colonial period, however, saw shifts in nomenclature and identity politics. In the 1950s, the term ‘Mizo’ emerged in the Lushai Hills — now Mizoram — under the leadership of Laldenga. In recent years, the term ‘Zo’ has gained currency in some circles as a pan-tribal identity. This, in our view, is a misinterpretation. ‘Zo’ is derived from ‘Mizo’, a designation specific to one tribe in Mizoram. It does not historically encompass the Kukis of India, the Chins of Myanmar, or the Bawms of the Chittagong Hill Tracts in Bangladesh. No historical record or government document acknowledges ‘Zo’ as a pan-tribal identity. As a derivative of ‘Mizo’, its political usage should remain confined to Mizoram.
There are no historical records of ‘Zo’ or ‘Zoland’ in ancient texts, colonial archives, or pre-colonial chronicles. Unlike ‘Kuki’, which appears in the _Mahabharata_, _Tripura Rajmala_, and British ethnographic surveys from the 17th century onward, ‘Zo and Zoland’ is a recent construct composed by some writers and commentators without documentary or archaeological basis. We must know the real history of the Kuki. The historical record has already proved that Kuki is our nation and identity. To substitute that legacy with newly coined terms erases centuries of documented peoplehood and the sacrifices made to defend it. Political narratives cannot override primary sources, gazetteers, and maps that consistently identify this land and its people as Kuki.
Further, claims linking ‘Zo’ to the Chinese term ‘Zhou’ have no historical or etymological basis. The Kuki nation existed as a distinct entity long before British rule. Our forefathers defended this homeland valiantly, notably in the Kuki War of 1860-1861 and the Anglo-Kuki War of 1917-1919. These conflicts reflect a deep-rooted commitment to sovereignty and self-determination that defines Kuki political history.
The Kuki nation has a well-documented history and territorial claim that must be recognized on its own terms, distinct from newer nomenclatures that have emerged in recent decades. The Kuki people have a proud heritage, and preserving and acknowledging this unique identity is essential. Let us stand united in protecting our history and asserting our rights. May the Kuki nation prosper, and may our identity remain a beacon for generations to come.
