Yesterday I went into @adorama (a major NYC camera equipment store) and spent over $2,000 on a camera, mics, lighting, cables, etc. As I’m unpacking it appears that something didn’t get packed in my bag.
I call their number and get told by the robot that I’ll be on hold for 2 minutes. 17 minutes later a man with a heavy accent answers and tells me he can’t find my order using my email/phone number (which I used to place the order).
The entire time we’re talking I can hear a rooster crowing, which sounds like it’s 10 feet away from him. I finally lost it and asked, “Are you in the store right now??” (obviously knowing that he wasn’t).
He tells me no, and apologizes for his rooster, then asks me if I would like to be connected to customer service inside the store. So obviously, I say yes. Then I end up on hold for another 20 minutes before I finally hung up.
So I called back and went through the exact same experience – the robot telling me I would be on hold for two minutes and one person is ahead of me. I stayed on hold for seven minutes and gave up again.
Then I remembered that one of the sales guys gave me his business card, so I called back a third time and hit the extension on his card, and was directed to a voicemail where I’ve left a message and asked someone to call me back.
I literally feel despair.
I spent thousands of dollars and I cannot even connect to anybody at this company to get service based on a mistake that their sales team made.
We are facing a subzero cold snap in New York, and it feels right now like my only option is to go out and go down to that store in person because I will not be able to connect with a human being in the United States of America to get service on my order.
This is just the dreadful reality of trying to do business in America today. What a nightmare we’ve become.
@AlaskaAir I bought 2 Bagtags when they first came out and I have never been able to use them. I fly out on @HawaiianAir tomorrow and they told to check with you. Can I get refunds on my 2 units. Nobody can help.
