In a continued demonstration of respect and gratitude, Mayor Dele Oshinowo has been paying courtesy visits to respected party leaders and allies to present his Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination forms as the All Progressives Congress (APC) Candidate for the House of Representatives, Kosofe Federal Constituency.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending the @LJLAcademy teamUPGRADE Project Launch at Community High School, Alapere.

Seeing the transformation of the ICT Centre and Library into a modern learning space was truly inspiring. Having been part of this journey from the beginning, I am proud of what the team has achieved.

On behalf of the Mayor Dele Oshinowo Foundation, we were pleased to support the project again with a donation towards the continued growth of the space.

I commend the TeamUPGRADE and the leadership of the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy for this remarkable initiative.

Projects like this shape the leaders of tomorrow, and anything that invests in our young people will always have our support.

We were out to celebrate my brother, Dr. Seriki Muritala, as he marked his 40th birthday, and it was truly a beautiful and memorable occasion. @Seriki_MI

It was an amazing time shared with family and friends, and I dare say it turned into a grand reunion of progressives, especially the youth. The atmosphere was filled with love, laughter, unity, and renewed bonds.

We've heard the criticism over the First Lady's comments about businesses like akara, roasted corn and kuli-kuli. But our experience at the grassroots tells a different story. Check this post from last year relating to this same kind of issue. At the local council, we were the closest to the people.

In Agboyi-Ketu, we didn't design empowerment from behind a desk. We went into markets and communities and asked petty traders how much capital they actually needed. Many said ₦10,000, ₦20,000 or ₦30,000.

That is why our WeLift Initiative gave ₦50,000 grants to over 10,000 vulnerable residents. Was ₦50,000 enough to make anyone rich overnight? No. But did it help thousands restock, grow their businesses, feed their families and regain dignity? Without question.

People often underestimate the power of micro-enterprises. Yet the akara seller, pepper seller, roasted corn vendor, tailor and roadside trader are the backbone of every local economy. Supporting them isn't an insult, it's smart grassroots economics.

On this, the First Lady deserves a fair hearing. She was speaking about giving those at the very bottom an opportunity to start, not limiting anyone's aspirations.

We have seen this model work. Real empowerment begins by meeting people where they are and giving them a chance to rise.

We didn't just believe it. We lived it. And thousands of lives in Agboyi-Ketu are proof.
