@VeeEmYou These new millionaires are millennials/Gen Z who are diehard hustle culture adherents. They will never invest in anything that doesn't guarantee instant monetary returns, so at most we will see more shitty apps with devastating second and third order effects on society.
@FoolOfD The West is so atomized that the right-wing is literally incapable of forming around anything that isn’t libertarianism fueled purely by hedonism.
@VeeEmYou A group of white guys is a rare sight even in the United States these days. Also, the Japanese guy is right, sitting on the ground like that is disgusting and shouldn't be tolerated.
@DogeLiteuh@RabulistenMedia@samhallsnytt There is an entire police state dedicated to making sure European children don’t fight back. The parents are so ideologically captured that they will scold/punish their children for fighting back. The children are demoralized and broken.
@GMShivers Honestly, it’s wildly inappropriate for people to talk badly about their own children in the work environment in general, especially as a manager.
@GMShivers@E_Megas It's ridiculous that we expect kids to decide what they want to do (or can do) in life immediately after high school while having had barely any exposure to those potential career choices. Lot of kids have been set up to fail.
@VeeEmYou TBH, at least with the elder millennials, this kind of gaslighting worked way too well on them. The male elder millennials who succeeded are extremely performative strivers and fervent defenders of the status quo, and their kids will hate them for it.
@VeeEmYou I could have seen this as a tactic to reduce oil dependency in the Middle East, but COVID demonstrated that companies don’t adapt to supply chain disruption risks, they double down. Not to mention the fact that the war was clearly done at the behest of Israel.
@FoolOfD The West has a very "self-starter" attitude towards education that basically expects the average kid to learn everything on their own, which is fine in a vacuum, but a catastrophe when those kids are now expected to compete with the rest of the world in their own country.
@FoolOfD Some of them might have had useful institutional knowledge, but judging by that Microsoft senior engineer that wanted to replace all C/C++ code with Rust by 2030 using AI... Probably not...
@Cacophanus I’m curious about your insights on international outsourcing and potential impact on art stylization? I’m sure the pursuit of realistic graphics is largely an executive level decision, but are there any hurdles to art direction based on potential language and timezone barriers?
@VeeEmYou I’m not smart at all, but I suspect that 95% of all college professors are really bad at teaching and we basically failed multiple generations of students by ignoring the value of a quality education.
