@pietviljoen Spreading false rumours and then profiting off the move is market abuse and so regulators should ensure this isn’t taking place. I don’t think that’s Viceroys’ game. Shorts can expose frauds which facilitates the appropriate allocation of society’s savings. That’s a good thing
@pietviljoen Totally agree Piet. How many investors accessed the underlying company records from Romania and noticed the discrepancy? Viceroy haven’t forced anyone to sell, they only highlighted the issue and backed their view with their own money. If they’re right, they deserve to profit.
@charliebilello @tjbbotha Maybe it should be “Ouch-ziff”? These are great businesses with annuity income, wonderful cash flow dynamics and high returns on capital. The market thinks active management is over but maybe the “real cost of passive investing, is performing in line with falling markets ?”
Perhaps the true cost of investing in passive funds is performing in line with falling markets. Having failed to outperform rising markets these past 10 years, active funds now have to demonstrate their value proposition during weak markets.
@viceroyresearch@AMD If their revenue grew 40% and is expected to grow 50% this quarter, their clients are clearly not concerned. Looks like you are barking up the wrong tree and should take another look at your target price calc
@DeonGouws_Credo@realDonaldTrump Complete fool announcing this before his infrastructure plan. Now steel will cost more! Tariffs make things more expensive which leaves less money for other things so less of a multiplier effect = lower economic growth
@davidshapiro61 So amazing that these 2 guys at their age can still cut through the rubbish and deliver such sound advice, simply - “insane to risk what you have to obtain what you don’t need”
@mrjamesob@JamesMelville@IainDale@jeremycorbyn From today’s FT “If WTO rules applied to UK food exports to the EU, beef would carry 87% tariffs and Lamb 51%. 70% of our £14bn of exports is to the EU. Wales exports 40% of its Lamb, 90% to the EU” Head of Farmers Union concerned
