@BigMikedown@kevinbonham No he wouldn’t. Also, kicking a guy in handcuffs off a cliff and hitting women in the face because you’re worried that people will find out you’re having an affair are acts of a pea-hearted coward. Whatever a “real man” is, Ben Roberts-Smith couldn’t be further from it.
I can't be the only editor here to be frustrated that @MacqDictionary has both massively increased their subscription fees (to $100 p.a. for individuals), yet their website has become utterly useless in recent months. Can we go back to paying $40 a year for a site that works?
I feel like the PM launching into another attack on someone who isn’t even in parliament, rather than celebrating a historic win proves my point, which is this is how the political class treats ppl who fight for renters & real change.
Compare this to his kind words for Dutton.
@kevinbonham Not sure if I'm missing something obvious, but reporting Calare as a safe Coalition seat seems odd given the incumbent and runner-up from last election are independents. Is Andrew Gee really on the wrong side of a 60–40 split, or is he being assigned as LNP?
@Milan2Pinsk@graceboschetti@MIFFofficial Well said, Rochelle! :) Really thrilled that Grace was picked for this, and very much looking forward to reading her work in the coming weeks.
Congratulations to film critic @graceboschetti in this year's @MIFFofficial Critics Campus. If you know Grace, you know she's the real deal: passionate, sensitive, thorough and prepared to do the work of watching hundreds of films every year. #MIFF2024 https://t.co/uvEwSxqoCs
I really enjoyed PACO when I saw it at last year's SXSW Sydney – particularly loved the way it delves into the loneliness/solitude of sound recording. David Heslin writes beautifully about the film here: https://t.co/W03hqijxVi #PACO
NOT A PRETTY PICTURE (1975) • Entering the Criterion Collection in August! https://t.co/nTxcbKEFoj
Trailblazing filmmaker @Martha_Coolidge made her feature debut with this unflinchingly personal hybrid of documentary and fiction.
"Ultimately what makes me saddest about ending this endeavour is the chance that the space will not exist for a certain kind of filmmaker's work to be treated with the intellect and respect they deserve in print." A depressing, and depressingly unsurprising, RIP to Cinema Scope.
In a new piece in Metro, Grace Boschetti discusses Kitty Green's The Royal Hotel – a troubling look at gendered power dynamics in an outback setting:

@JoeBartone70516@terryfrost @nadine_whitney Mate, tell me about it – the magazine I edit, @metrofilm, has been on life support for most of 2023. But we’ve never asked for or accepted cash for coverage because that would debase the entire project. If anyone chooses to go down that path, then they may as well shut up shop.
@JoeBartone70516@terryfrost @nadine_whitney The biggest story here is the publications that asked you for an "administrative fee" in order to review your film. I'd be interested to hear the names of some of those mastheads, particularly the more well-known ones. Readers should know that they're engaged in these practices.
