I valued being on Twitter because of the extraordinary people I've found to interact with here: but the price of that is feeling like one I'm less and less willing to pay.
You can find me on Instagram at 'distinctivewoodworking' I won't be here as much.

@DrJacobsRad On the rare occasions I come back to Twitter, I always find you interesting to read: I don't always agree, but 'once upon a time' being able to debate intelligently with others was a valued skill: and you regularly do show a good ear for debate.
A Canadian is diagnosed with a blood cancer every 24 minutes. Youth are affected the most: Kids die. I invited @laine_johnson1@ShawnMenard1@tm_kavanagh @JLeiper @DevineSean to the @LLSCanada Light the Night fundraiser last Sat night to hear more... https://t.co/Y9x9Xqbktx
This is a gold lantern: its from the @LLSCanada#lightthenight fundraiser. It represents someone who is no longer with us due to Leukemia & Lymphoma. There were far too many Gold Lanterns @CanWarMuseum in the light the night walk tonight. Donate https://t.co/JD8UK2dqzY
@JohnFraserOS@BonnieCrombie@ChandraPasma@MaritStiles Anyone who listened to CBC's Ontario Today call in would have gotten an ear full of feelings about the value of the $200/Ontario citizen announcement.
If the cheques do go out, mine will be immediately donated to the @LLSCanada

My posts this weekend. Feels even more raw this morning hearing people reacting to the latest stunt from the provincial gov't with $200 bribes.
aren't health care & education more important?

@yfblanchet High speed rail for the Quebec/Ontario corridor is approaching the level of believability that the 1976 Montreal Olympics would not lose money. (perhaps I date myself with that statement, but the Montreal Olympic stadium was only finally paid off in the last few years)
@jm_mcgrath Thanks for the discussion on CBC Ontario today. A thread from the weekend: As "that dad" I would love for an opportunity to discuss this further perhaps with @spaikin

My daughter's speech from @LLSCanada event this weekend is also available

Over on instagram, I posted a 'story' talking about my concerns about political leadership in Canada and how it impacts Canadian's medical care.
If I trusted this platform more? I'd post the video here.
Except: I don't trust this platform :(
(I obviously understand the irony)
@TheHillTimes Understanding that I'm just a suburban dad from Ottawa: read this thread about my attempt to engage with the leaders about cancer care for Canadians, and realize that your 'crisis of trust' point is spot-on.

@ccleighton@fordnation@PBethlenfalvy@Sflecce Thank you for this Dr Leighton: as the father of an university-age daughter coming back from stage 4 lymphoma, I think the only thing you missed was under-investment on education alongside under-investment on health care.
@fordnation@PBethlenfalvy@Sflecce I think a lot of Ontario drivers would happily pay a little more so they could have a family doctor & fast primary medical care, so they'd know that their kids might not have a cancer diagnosis missed.
I know how my 20 year old daughter recovering from stage 4 lymphoma feels.
@DrJacobsRad@PierrePoilievre@ThomasMulcair I do need to point this out: We're in Canada: where decisions made by politicians directly affect & impact Canadian's health. So when your kid called you & says "I have stage 4 lymphoma?" When it should have been caught sooner? Yes it becomes f***ing political.
@DrJacobsRad@PierrePoilievre@ThomasMulcair Picking up from last night: a topic Dr Jacobs can directly relate: a thread I raised last night on the leaders & responses (or not) to an Ottawa-area cancer fundraiser: Mr Poilievre -is- supposed to be an Ottawa-area MP before he's a party leader.

@ShamjiAdil@fordnation@SylviaJonesMPP@OntariosDoctors My daughter's not a statistic: she's a young university student who had to go through a year of stage 4 lymphoma treatment (& ongoing recovery) b/c of no family doctors, missed diagnoses, & a late cancer detection. Instead, we get beer at corner stores? I'd rather have a doctor.
@NightShiftMD@cbcwhitecoat@LLSCanada Fortunately: My daughter is in remission after stage 4 lymphoma treatment: Caught far too late (not enough family doctors, not enough primary care for young adults, not enough primary care focussed for young women) but Leukemia & Lymphoma hits young Cdns hard. A future story?
@NightShiftMD & @cbcwhitecoat Sorry: I can't remember when you last covered Lymphoma & Leukemia in detail: last night at the @LLSCanada Ottawa fundraiser: i listened to parents describe their daughter's five year's of treatment: harrowing. https://t.co/Y9x9Xqbktx
