@hakikohaku I am very delayed... sorry about that.
my list isn't all one medium, and in no particular order
-Imitation of Christ
-Centuria
-Hand Jumper
-Diary of a country Priest
quick log on to say:
1.) June is the month of the Sacred Heart
2.) June 1st is the feast of St. Justin Martyr to whose patronage my (semi-defunct) blog is dedicated.
another caveat is that people KNOW they can't control death and that focusing on it would force them to think about what happens after and THEREFORE they strive to control even death by taking their own life and advocating for assisted suicide e.g. MAID, etc
hot take:
main factor of lukewarm response to Gospel is not remembering memento mori
others say it's forgetting original sin. I think that's def a factor but not the main. all the self-help and interest in behavioral psych show that ppl are aware of sin but
want to overcome it themselves.
Death is the one thing people can't control so this would usually be a better way in - HOWEVER - death is usually thought of as far away and so Final Judgement because something to worry about later
Neither must it be supposed that the solicitude of the Church is so preoccupied with the spiritual concerns of her children as to neglect their temporal and earthly interests.
thinking how good = true = beautiful🤔
evil can't be beautiful so it latches onto sexuality
evil can't be true so it seeks to rationalize
evil can't be good so it masquerades as love
